Sitrusoewer River Camp

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Nov 2023
This is the most beautiful campsite!!! We stayed in Kingfisher cabin with Aircon. Also the amenities are more than any camper
would ever need..
The comfortable beds and luxurious bedding were a pleasant surprise. My boys had tons of fun playing in the river.
I would recommend this camp site to anyone who wants to enjoy spectacular river views a few steps away from citrus orchards.
Thank you to Anneke for making this a memorable camping experience.

My wife and I, retirees touring the country in our caravan, knew we were in for an exciting time when we booked a two month stay at Sitrusoewer River Camp. Neither of us know this part of the Eastern Cape.
We were pleasantly surprised, and the 5-star rating is not given lightly; based on personal requirements such as security, state of the ablution facilities, entertainment, functionality and overall experience.
We immediately felt at home, our stand situated next to the Sundays River which offered us great angling opportunities. We had the freedom of exploring the farm, by foot or on quads, gaining firsthand experience of the activities during harvest time. As bird-lovers we had the privilege of taking photographs of more than 100 of the 300+ bird species in the area.
The owners (and other staff) are very hands-on, caring and professional. As an example, the steps that was manufactured and installed to allow us easier access to the upper level did not go unnoticed.
Load-shedding did not affect us at all due to a generator on the farm and from a security perspective we could leave our belongings to explore the region, places such as Addo National Park, The Valley of Desolation, Nieu Batesda and Graaff Reinett are all within reach.
During our stay we've met various other campers, some of them returning regularly for as long as 18 years. This speak volumes, however, based on our experience we fully understand why - to the extent that we are already planning our next visit.

What a gem of a place. A must for families to unwind and just just enjoy the simple things in life. Anneke was so accommodating and replied almost instantly to emails. Booking was easy and booking information received detailed but simple. My family of 4 (kids 13 and 10) stayed in Blue Crane cabin. Upon arrival, the cabin was clean and neat. The kitchen kitted out with the necessaries (apart from scissors). The bedroom was just delightful and the bed comfy with fresh linen. Our kids slept on the pull out couch but fear it would be the last time as my eldest is a bit too big too share now with his brother. The bathroom was surprisingly big for the size of cabin and the shower was awesome. We pre-ordered our wood and it was all ready and waiting under the braai. The veranda was ample in size and faced the river. Our kids had a blast on the canoes and jumping platform as well as the swing into the river. It was typically hot for the time of year so having the luxury of aircon in the cabin was priceless. Overall, well priced and comfortable accommodation nestled between beautiful citrus trees and the Sundays River. So close to PE and Uitenhage, a must to visit even for just a weekend. Can't wait for our next visit in March

As always, we had an amazing time at Sitrusoewer. We've been there twice in 2021 and every time it just feels better than the previous time. Kingfisher is the perfect place to escape for a relaxing time. It feels like home away from home. The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need and very clean indeed. We are already planning a few breakaways to Sitrusoewer this year and can recommend this to anyone.

We had the most amazing weekend. From the turn-off and the clear visible directions to the unit that was clean and well stocked with everything you need. The facilities and bathroom was clean and well kept. We had a 4-year old with us that kept himself busy with the play area. We were all in the water with the lovely weather we had on Saturday. Enjoying ourselves on the canoes and the tubes. All the guest there was also friendly. Can't wait to go back. I want to thank the management for ensuring that you have a gem for us to visit.
