My wife and I, retirees touring the country in our caravan, knew we were in for an exciting time when we booked a two month stay at Sitrusoewer River Camp. Neither of us know this part of the Eastern Cape.
We were pleasantly surprised, and the 5-star rating is not given lightly; based on personal requirements such as security, state of the ablution facilities, entertainment, functionality and overall experience.
We immediately felt at home, our stand situated next to the Sundays River which offered us great angling opportunities. We had the freedom of exploring the farm, by foot or on quads, gaining firsthand experience of the activities during harvest time. As bird-lovers we had the privilege of taking photographs of more than 100 of the 300+ bird species in the area.
The owners (and other staff) are very hands-on, caring and professional. As an example, the steps that was manufactured and installed to allow us easier access to the upper level did not go unnoticed.
Load-shedding did not affect us at all due to a generator on the farm and from a security perspective we could leave our belongings to explore the region, places such as Addo National Park, The Valley of Desolation, Nieu Batesda and Graaff Reinett are all within reach.
During our stay we've met various other campers, some of them returning regularly for as long as 18 years. This speak volumes, however, based on our experience we fully understand why - to the extent that we are already planning our next visit.
