“Great park, amazing lodging”

So I'm going to let you in on a little secret: the Guest Houses deep within the park, about 15 km from the main reception/restaurant/cabins are AMAZING. There are 2 farmhouses from the 1830s sitting atop a hill, with a gorgeous view. The homes have been lovingly and thoroughly maintained with antique furnishings but modern amenities. Truly dreamy, like stepping out of time. And a total surprise!!

The park is great, too, of course. Craggy, dry land, animals are sparse but you can find almost all of them with a little patience. On our own we couldn't find any cats, though.

For those with children, know that the cheetah tour age limit is 12 and up. Some of the jeep tours allow children down to age 6. Otherwise it's self-drive, which is fine. There are a couple of short hiking trails and a nice swimming pool near the main cabin area.

The restaurant and shop are minimalist, but fine. Facilities are nice overall.

“Guaranteed to see animals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2017 via mobile

The park is smaller than some but you will see a variety of animals. We were lucky enough to see the two male lions in the park during our visit. The wildebeest were plentiful and there were loads of babies. Birds like buzzards and other birds of prey were also easily spotted. The mountain zebra were particularly interesting as they were distinct from the others we had seen. Ground squirrels and mongoose were also a delight to see in the wild. The park roads are well maintained, even the unsealed ones. There are great areas of open grassland that makes it easy to spot animals. If you are in the area, don't miss visiting this park.

“Must do Again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2017

The drought is so so severe, the little animals and birds we saw was showing the strain of the drought, with this said we had a wonderful afternoon in the park. We only had the late morning and afternoon to view the park, also not the best time of day, but definitely a park to be visited again.

Awesome game viewing on immaculate roads. Staff very friendly and professional. The game viewing I can recommend. Lots of game that is not in the least disturbed by vehicles.
Can't wait to bring friends and family ro see this jewel of a place.
Makes me proud to be a South African, when we can offer such rare beauty.
A must see experience.

“December over nighter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2017

This was a quick visit to the park, not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised at the overall experience. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful, the over night chalet was immaculately clean and very comfortable, and had everything that we needed. The swimming pool was clean and the grounds were very well presented. We went on a night game drive which was great and we were very lucky with the animals that we saw. We will definitely be back!
