“Fantastic cottage for a weekend with friends”
Reviewed 28 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

A great base for our ladies' reunion. Cosy cottage, gorgeous location, walks on the doorstep, the pub next door for fab food and glorious sunshine throughout. Thanks to Adrian and co who could not have been more welcoming. A lovely relaxing stay.

“Excellent Christmas Retreat”

We have just returned from three fabulous nights stay at Hillsover over Christmas with the family. The cottage was perfect in accommodating seven adults, plenty of space and well equipped in every way. The views were amazing and we enjoyed family nights in around the blazing log fire in the sitting room. We visited the pub next door on Christmas day to a lively welcome from the locals. We were also encouraged to join the Boxing Day walk with scary Santa but some of our party were worse for wear and slept in. Nevertheless we still managed to talk a leisurely walk before partaking in boxing day brunch in the pub next door. The menu was varied and food was good value for money. We would certainly recommend our stay and are looking forward to visiting again as a family. Thank you Adrian and your staff for your kind hospitality.

“A Great Stay!”
Reviewed 11 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We spent a wonderful week at Hillsover.
The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable and the views from the front windows were beautiful.
Adrian and his staff were very helpful and at the same time not intrusive.
Although the village pub was right next door and very popular with the locals, we were not disturbed at all, although we were tempted to have one or two evening tipples!
We'd love to return for another holiday.

“A great cottage on the moors”
Reviewed 13 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Myself and my partner Emily stayed in Hillsover Cottage with some friends for the week of our wedding at Danby Castle. The Cottage was a great place to stay and was really good value for money. We have stayed in other holiday cottages where we have had to take our own towels and bed linen and loo roll, but everything was provided here. All of the rooms were lovely. There is only the one shower, which is on the ground floor - it would be better if the two other bathrooms had proper showers over the baths. The fireplace in the living room was a real plus for chilly evenings, coal and logs were provided. There was plenty of cookware and crockery etc in the kitchen and a dishwasher. We ate food in the Fox and Hounds pub (who own the cottage) a couple of times during the week - proper pub food, big portions, very tasty. The location is stunning, and also only a short drive to Whitby. All in all we loved staying here.

“Superb accommodation, open fire was a particular treat!”
Reviewed 14 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Myself and 5 other adults plus a toddler stayed in this wonderful cottage on self-catering basis, for 4 nights and enjoyed how welcoming and homely, but clean and well-thought-out the accommodation was. The kitchen/dining room was a perfect family area in the mornings and the evenings in front of the open fire were a particular treat. If I were to have any criticism at all - it would have been useful to have seen a floor plan of the bedrooms before we arrived so we could plan who could stay where, also a few more tea towels for the kitchen - which was otherwise very well equipped! We had one dinner in the pub restaurant and the good and service were both excellent!
