Good value for money

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Jan 2022
December 2021 with Covit 19 have seen all the beaches been closed. This led to lots of cancelations and we end up being upgraded to the Beach Front Camp on-suite Beachfront Units. There we were able to be right next to the beach that was not crowded, not even over Christmas or New Year. Of the 4 units 2 did not had warm water, 1 was fixed later. The rooms were cleaned every day. We were there during a tropical storm and the units did rain in after a lot of hard rain and wind. We did took a lot of our own camping gear including stove, pots, pans, freezer, ext. Will next time also include braaier and Ice maker. So over all very basic clean and affordable. The rest of the comments will be about Ponta do Ouro and Mozambique.
Date of stay: December 2021
Room Tip: I would only stay in one of the Beach Front Camp on-suite Beachfront Units

We recently stayed in the capsite during fishing comp.
Only to find out the reason why we are the only campers in the camp.

The security is a big issue as our fishing rods and reels were stolen while at meeting.
No water ar basens to even wash dishes.
Stray dogs all over the camp barking and keeping you from sleep.

The ablutions are realy of poor quality/not to mention the hot water issue
almost or most of the times without hot water or any water at all.

The traffic through the camp during day and night also a issue as no controll of who may enter the camp an who not.

Will I ever ga back...?
No

Rather spend your money elsewhere.

Room tip: Do not stay in Campsite as serious security issues

We had decided to tour this island for our crossover to 2020. To be honest we didn't pay much attention to the hospitality of this beach camp. Mosquitoes are not that vicious around there..you can survive with a can of insect repellent.. But I must say it was fairly clean regarding that this is Mozambique! We were hardly in the camp because we had gone there celebrate the Crossover. Overall this Island is a must visit with its breathtaking white sand beach and the calm ocean waves!

The food service in the restaurant is horrible to the point where it is unusable. The noise factor was terrible as well. All in all a horrible holiday that the dives did not make up for. I will not be coming back ever again

Arrived around noon & were very surprised at the basic nature of the camp.
We were toild there was no cutlery & crockery supplied as well as any towels BUT we thought [wrongly] that these would be available for rental from the office for a refundable deposit ...NOT SO..
As this area obviously gets very warm we had to rent a fridge for our stay which was put into the communal kitchen which is also very neglected.
The chalets are very run down & need urgent attention to make them comfortable.

The restaurant is virtually open air type so when the wind or rain arrives it is very difficult to have a meal or drink. The food takes forever [normally 30+ mins ] to arrive & when it does it is always cold.

It was a bit hard to judge this place by only their website ad its pretty basic but I can assure you it's an amazing place to visit! OK so we did go during the quiet season so maybe thing will change during December but non the less... The tents had amazing views, are super clean (and cleaned daily) the on site restaurant had the most amazing food and the staff were very friendly! I'm definitely going back there when we visit again!
