“Clean & welcoming cottage—perfectly situated for a trip to the Forest of Dean”
Reviewed 1 January 2017 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed here for two weeks in the summer of 2017. We had no trouble finding the place or picking up our keys. Upon entering the cottage we found a wonderfully furnished place, along with a couple of bottles of wine on the table; a packet of cookies/biscuits alongside; and a pint of milk in the fridge.

Since we were staying for two weeks we were very glad to find a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, kettle, oven, etc. We also did laundry several times with the built in washing machine/drier.

The bedrooms were spacious, and we slept well on the bed. The shower was hot and had excellent water pressure. We had WiFi throughout the house.

The living room had a very comfortable sofa, and we watched TV several mornings while drinking tea and planning our day ahead. Parking was provided right next to the property.

Adjoining the living room was an outside area with a table and chair set. We sat out several evenings and enjoyed dinner in a quiet and secluded spot. The property adjoins the Staunton church, so we had no problems with the neighbors. :)

We would definitely recommend this property, and would like to rent it again next time we return to the country. It was a perfect location to visit sights within the Forest of Dean. The owners have done an amazing job with the cottage, and we were very impressed with all the little touches around the house. Kudos!

“Lovely december stay at cosy cottage”
Reviewed 23 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Lovely decorated (with X-mas tree!), toasty warm and very clean cottage. Good restaurant/pub within walking distance. Nice little markettowns and walking trails nearby. Forest of Dean is beautifull!

More a 2 adults cottage than 4 due to only one toilet and small livingroom. With small kid(s) its fine. Good wifi and TV. Large and complete kitchen with enough storage.

We stayed 4 nights and would like to visit again.

“Perfect cottage for short Autumn walking break”
Reviewed 15 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

What a comfortable, clean and inviting cottage with a warm welcome (wine, flowers and cookies)! We were so impressed by the quality furnishings, attention to detail to make the stay so enjoyable - it felt like home straight away.
The bed was comfortable with a softer foam mattress (great for sufferers of hip pain like myself!), log burner which our dog loved to lie in front of in the evening after a long walk, fabulously equipped kitchen - even down to washing up liquid, tea towels, kitchen towels etc. so many unexpected extras (torch in case you forget yours as no street lighting to local pub at night).
We loved our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a clean & comfortable cosy place to stay which is quiet and on the doorstep to the forest of dean (literally walk out of the door, down the lane for a lovely walk through the autumn trees in the forest). We shall be back for sure and thank you to Edward for his prompt communication & advice in the booking process. Also, a big thanks to the lovely neighbours who helped us jumpstart our car after leaving the interior light on all night!!
Recommended pub to eat with or without a dog: The Saracens Head at Symonds Yat - just perfect :)

“Perfect Holiday Retreat”
Reviewed 22 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Booking was straightforward with prompt communications from Ed, the owner. A generous welcome awaited us, with flowers, wine, biscuits and milk, and plenty of info about the cottage and about Forest attractions. The cottage is delightful - absolutely immaculate, tastefully furnished, comfortable and extremely well equipped and in a peaceful, but easily accessible location. If the weather is kind, the pretty walled garden is a lovely space in which to eat, or just sit! The cottage is well situated for many attractions and places of interest, and for lovely walks. We absolutely loved our stay here and look forward to coming again.

Thank you very much for having us - it is such a change from London and we'll miss being there. I loved the little touches - the wine and cookies - all very thoughtful!

All the best and hope to return again very soon!
