I dont like bad reviews but I had to make an exception for this place ...
The sign out the front got us in (wished it hadnt )
MAKE YOUR OWN PLATTER ...
Sound good ??
Yeah we thought so too, boy were we wrong...
Salami ,biscuits ,cheese and pate you know all the stuff at a party you eat while you wait for the real food to come except this time there is no real food coming...
Yes we could of walked out at this point (wish we did) but my little girl really wanted to see the kangaroos and we were all out of the car ...
Now here is where it gets worse there is no platter... just plates and stuff you buy at foodland for a snack then you have to open the packaging yourself with a butter knife so we are at the table with plastic packaging and a plate trying to open packets of salami sticks and salmon with a butter knife couldnt be done so my husband had to use his teeth..
Ever heard the expression "if your not going to do it properly dont do it at all "well this is something that the owners really need to think about...
Seriously I could of just gone to coles and bought it...
So after lunch (if thats what you could call it)we went down to see the kangaroo as there was a staff member down there already talking to a couple thought we woukd go and join them ,my 7 year old couldnt wait to find out about its name ,age what they eat etc
Pity she will never know as the lady turned around looked at us and turned her back on us and kept talking to the other couple while we stood there awkwardly..
A hello and a smile would of been lovely then you could of turned your back on us..
I have just sold 2 successful businesses in Sydney and moved to the Barossa and wouldnt treat anyone how we were treated ... I still cannot believe how they treat paying customers..
We were made to feel so unwelcome from beginning to end ...

Hi Sabina,

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience

Our platter section is designed to be an affordable snack option for our customers, being a build your own platter you can choose as much as or as little as you like depending on how hungry you are. As it is a platter option it is not intended to be a full meal. We’ve worked really hard to source all local produce and we have also tried to keep the prices very affordable for our customers so that they can enjoy a day out with family. As far as opening the packets go we do have scissors available, if they weren’t there our staff behind the bar are always happy to help and will often cut open the packets for you and dispose of the rubbish.

That would have been Sally down at the kangaroos who is their caretaker and would have been more than happy to speak to you about them if you had have asked.

Again really sorry to hear you had a bad experience, I hope you’ll come back again as we are consistently rated as one of the most family friendly wineries in the Barossa.

Thanks,

Ellen

From NT we always get jealous when Whistler post another great gathering at the vineyard.

Finally we arrived on a weekend event, Stew & Shiraz, the weather gods were very kind, making the day even better, good wine, open fire, amazing entertainment, casual relaxed day.

Josh/Jules & the cellar door team worked their butts off and never frowned once, lovely day, great company & entertainment.

Hi Derek,

Thanks so much for your review on our Annual Easter Sunday event.

It's always a fun day on the lawns and I'm happy to hear you were able to enjoy it with your family. Cooper is a great fielder (and also a great soccer player)!

Cheers,

Ellen
