Great village club for family holidays

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Sept 2021
We stayed at Village Club du Soleil Arc 1800 for one week with our one-year old baby. The hotel is perfect for a family holidays: the club bebe is amazing, staff kind and extremely professional. Many activities were organized during the week, usually at the ski-station which was located 10-minutes walking. We had access to the swimming pool and spa area, highly recommend the swimming pool with Jacuzzi inside and lovely view of the mountains. The location is nice and quiet. Every evening some entertainment (music, karaoke, cabaret) was available in the hotel itself. Buffet was fine, although being Italian I could not approach the pasta (overcooked and used as side dish), but luckily other choices were usually ok. Rooms were nice and big, although some additional equipment may have been useful (i.e. fridge, boiler, locker). Strongly recommended for families with babies and kids.

The hotel publishes ski-in-ski-out access to slopes but this is not really true - there's a tricky (and somewhat dangerous for beginners) ski-out access to a chair lift - and there is no real ski-in access at all (partially off-piste, partially skis-off). This fact also prevented us from getting back for lunch at the hotel.

But this is the only real drawback of this place.
- The entire Paradiski area offers lots of pistes and lifts, excellent for all levels of skiers.
- The breakfast is standard but we never left hungry to slopes
- 5 out of 7 dinners were excellent (the other two were not that good but still reasonable)
- Nice spa facility, although you have to book in advance since the capacity is limited and working hours are short (last admission 6pm). Remember to bring your swimming suit - shorts are not allowed!
- Ski rental service and lockers are in-house, very convenient
- Rooms are basic - but when you come for ski, you hardly need anything else.
- Nice lobby with a fireplace and a bar. Evening animation is totally in French though
- Cleaning service in rooms is once per stay (mid-week) - one might see this as yet another drawback, we didn't...
- Last but not the least - very friendly and helpful staff. We had couple of "non standard" requests, all were answered and treated nicely and efficiently.

Room tip: Rooms on 6th floor have quick access to the ski room through a short passage between buildings (outside)

We spent a week skiing at Club du Soleil with 3 teenage children and had a very nice trip. The hotel is clean and ok but the rooms are basic - nothing fancy - and there are some annoying quirks to the hotel - no shampoo in the rooms, reception desk closed for part of the afternoon, two sets of elevators you go up and down a lot. We were disappointed that children under 16 were not allowed in the spa/jacuzzi area at all and disappointed that the hotel is not necessarily ski in/ski out; it depends on how much snow there is. The skiing itself, however, was great. There were a lot of slopes of different levels, no real lines at the lifts, the instructors from ESI were generally very good and the ski equipment you get from the hotel was good and the whole process well organized. So it is a good place to go as a base for skiing (or maybe summer outdoor activities) but if I were looking for a pampering hotel to go to for relaxation, I would look for another place.

Room tip: Higher floors let you skip the elevators during busier times and use the stairs. Lobby is 10th floor and hotel is built down.

the Hotel Les Villages Clubs du Soleil Arc 1800 is sitated close to the slopes of Arc 1800. Ski rental was free (included in the hotel rate), however, if you want to have good skies, better rent them! Food was excellent, wine with the food was free.

pros:
- good value for money
- good service, friendly staff
- lunch and dinner were good and a wine is included
- nice room: enough space for 2 adults + 2 children
- lobby and bar
- location close to ski lift

cons:
- must know some French: some signs in room (cleaning time) and in the lobby are in French only.
- broken elevator
- poor breakfast
- poor SPA facilities

Room tip: Try to get room on higher floors (the entrance is in 10th), we stayed in 1st floor and one of two elevators was broken and nobody fixed it
