This summer we went to South Africa for the first time and we wanted to stay nearby the Kruger Park as our goal was to experience the wild life of Africa. Luckily we found Rafikis in Marloth Park where we stayed for 13 fantastic days.
When we arrived we got a warm welcome from both Gerda (the owner) and Betty (the housekeeper) and we felt very welcome under the hole stay.
The house was really nice, with 2 bathrooms both with shower and the one had also a tup. In the kitchen we found everything we needed for our stay. As we were only 4 people we had plenty of room and Betty kept the place nice and clean with a smile and was generally very helpful.
The day we arrived Betty was ready with a lovely traditional dinner cooked on the outdoor fireplace/the boma on which we made a lovely barbecue more than once. We ate on the porch and sitting out there we got a lot of wonderful and amazing moments with the animals living in the park. The wild life in Marloth are rich and also you have all the sounds from Kruger - very exciting for a family from Denmark. Even though you can meet all kind of animals except for elephants in Marloth we felt very secure under our stay at Rafikis. Also Rafikis is situated near the gate to Marloth Park which is guarded 24/7.
Marloth is very close to Kruger only separated by Crocodile River and 15 minutes from Crocodile Gate by car so there are rich opportunities to go on safari. Also there are plenty of shopping possibilities and restaurants nearby Rafikis.
All in all we had the most fantastic holiday and would like to go back for sure :))
My partner and I spend several incredible evenings here, watching the bush babies from less than a metre away! The unspoilt and quiet serenity of this gem in the bush is second to none. Easy to access by car yet right in the heart of the wild on the banks of the Crocodile river. We saw loads of large and small animals all within walking distance of the veranda. Definitely going back soon.
I had the great pleasure of visiting Rafiki's Resthouse over the Christmas break and what a break it was. The location was excellent and the vibe was chilled. Right next to the Crocodile river that passes through Kruger park, we had the opportunity to see and hear many big and small animals. If you simply sit on the terrace you will be visited by plenty of antelope, zebra, wildebeest, warthog and monkeys. We had quite the Safari experience just hanging out on that terrace! And we were very grateful to have Gerda there who knew about many of the activities in the area, how to get a bargain and of course her Dr Doolittle skills! We also had the great pleasure of meeting Betty who cooked and cleaned for us. Although your questions (no matter how unfunny) would almost certainly be met with Betty's raucous laughter, her smile would make you feel fortunate that she ever looked at you.
We had an excellent trip with tremendous hosts and an interaction with nature that will be hard to forget. I certainly recommend Rafiki's resthouse for anyone who is planning a holiday to see nature. I'll certainly be back soon!
The house is lovely and Betty was a star. Gerda was so helpful and friendly. We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back. We would give them ten stars if we could. Thanks again to everyone at Rafiki's hope to see you soon.
Our very first experience in a bush villa - didn't know what to expect yet it met all our needs. Gerda was very helpful during our planning. Betty the housekeeper was a gem.
