Lovely service from Zack and Shirley
Accommodation was pleasant the beds are a bit hard but other than that had a really nice stay.
Air-con's was a great help when the day gets hot, as well as the splash pool was perfect to sit and cool down.

I stayed here for 3 nights. The lodge is large in size with a small pool & outdoor area for sitting. The lodge was clean & cleaned each day should you require. The cleaner & her husband reside next door which is useful, and they can light the bbq for you at night. They were very nice.
The full day safari was booked for us & we were collected from the lodge at 5.15 am.
Only 1 of our rooms had functioning air con but we managed to cope with this. The lodge is very dark when the lights are on inside at night & some of the lights were without bulbs which didnt help. The TV had no signal - I would recommend you take DVDs, especially if you have children or games/ cards as theres nothing to do at night once dark.
The lodge is good value for money for a group of people. Its track down to the lodge is like a dirt track so be careful in smaller cars. I would not recommend arriving after dark.
Khumbula is situated in a little reserve in the midst of the bush, but very close to the Crocodile river and thus at the frontier of the Kruger Park. You can experience fantastic wildlife there without any Safari - Zebra, Ostrich, Warthog, Kudu, Bushbaby, Giraffe, Wildbeast and Impala will come even up to your terrasse and at the River side you can watch Elephants, Hippos, Rhinos and Water buck, even - we didn´t see it - but records of Lion abundance were made and you have also a fantastic avifauna there.
The atmosphere is great and the couple Shelly and Zec supporting you is absolutely outstanding in hospitatlity, support and any service you might need.
There are only few things that could be improved: there is absolutely (!) no internet around - you need best to go to Phumbula lodge - the recommended internet café close to the bush centre is very expensive and very awful. Also, rent a car at Nelspruit - there is no chance to get one at this place and even if you can rent bikes, these are expensive (though biking in the bush is a very recommendable experience - you see much much more game compared to Safaris in the Kruger park). As there is no cooking, be prepared to be responsible for your own meals, means when travelling there, stop at Malalane (Spar) and really buy anything you think you might need - shops in Marloth do not have much choice and particularly meat, fruits and vegetables are of awful quality.
But - when having the right dishes - kitchen facilities are perfectly equipped so you might enjoy a nice braai in the midst of wildlife!
I wasn't sure what to expect however I shouldn't have had any concerns. The lodge was lovely. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and nothing was too much trouble for the caretakers who lived right next door. They also organised an excellent half day safari and a super barbecue. I look forward to coming back
