Pre booked a room here for one night! Good sized car park and seemed pleasant enough on booking in! Dropped the bags into the room and went back down for a coffee and to check the evening menu. Two menus, the normal expensive one and the two meals for £12 menu which stated was served from Monday to Saturday until 8.pm.
So retired to the room for a soak in the bath before eating! We were in the same room Emilia Earheart slept in after one of her flights! I hope she did not want a bath because it took over half an hour to get 3 inches of water! so instead of a luxury soak! it was more of a splash in a puddle! Room was very tired! But okay!
Went back down at 7pm for food! But the deal menu had disappeared! When asked about it? I was told 'Oh no, not on a Saturday night" When i again quered the menu, was told 'Oh no it says on the board outside! not on Saturday nights! So i popped out to see the board! But that had gone to the same place as the menus!
So an outright 'LIE' The food we had was just okay! Chicken wraps okay! Hunters chicken was tough and stringy! Was waiting for a waitress to come back to ask if everything was okay? But never saw the staff after the food was delivered.
Staff were pleasant enough, but only had two speeds! Dead slow and Stop! waited 45 minutes for food! Then deserted!
As a by the way! Breakfast if pre booked is £10 per person! if booked on arrival was £6.95?????????? Toastwas 80p per slice! Full English! I don't think so! Also advertised breakfast served all day! But small print says only to 2pm.
So tired room! Slow service! Fluctuating price list and menus!
Would i go back? No! Far too many anomalies in service and pricing!

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel!

    Hello RogerM

First of all I would like to apologise for the stay you had and thank you for bringing to our attention all these issues. We have since resolved the issue with the bathroom and front of house.

We charge guests £10pp for breakfast. This is served between 7AM and 9AM. With this you get your teas, coffees, orange juice, cereals, fruits, yoghurts and a cooked breakfast. The breakfast for £6.95 is served in the bar from 10AM all day. With that bar breakfast you only get a cooked breakfast and you then have to buy a tea or coffee. I would like to apologise about the tent cards on the table as they state that the breakfast is served till noon. Unfortunately I neglected the fact that we changed our breakfast offer from noon to all day. This issue has since been resolved.

Hope this doesn't put you off staying with us again as I can assure you this is an isolated incident.

Played a bowls competition in Llanelli and the club we played against arranged for us to lunch at the Asburton Hotel.
We were impressed with the Function room where the meal was going to be served, it was immaculately presented. The meals were all great and the staff were wonderful.

We stayed here for a last minute night away from the kids and to explore Pembrey Country Park. On a positive note, the country park is literally minutes down the road and is a lovely area with many activities going on.

Our room was an average size with the basics of a tea and coffee tray, TV and bathroom toiletries. The decor however, was very tired with wallpaper peeling off etc and would really benefit from a make over.

The night we stayed, there was a wedding party which we had been told are frequent on weekends. We did not expect however, to have constant noise from passing footfall right outside our door til the early hours, and for there seemingly not to be enough staff to cope with covering the wedding and normal hotel guests. We ate in the restaurant in the evening which again seemed to have just 2 people serving at the bar, waitressing and taking desert orders (main food is to be ordered at the bar, something we discovered after being sat at our table for 20 minutes!) The food took around 40 minutes to arrive and was very 'ordinary' when it appeared.

A positive note again..... The bed was extremely comfortable!

Breakfast wasn't included in the room rate so we paid an extra £8 each to have it. When we entered the dining room, there were no staff to be seen to direct us so we found an empty table and seated ourselves amongst empty tables of dirty breakfast dishes. We worked out where things were and helped ourselves to warm juice and cold bacon and eggs (probably not helped by stone cold plates to eat it from!) We finally encountered the 1 and only waiter to ask for a pot of tea, 20 minutes after arriving. £8 was expensive for 2 cups of tea as I couldn't eat the cold food!

When we came to check out, the bill was given to my partner who was about to pay it until I noticed it was a lot more than it should have been! When I asked for a breakdown, the room charge was included even though I had an email stating I had prepaid. We were told booking.com don't actually take payment when you book and you pay when you leave. I have encountered this before but this time the email had specifically said it was paid. We were told to pay the bill and then if it had been paid twice we were to take it up with booking.com! I checked my bank account at the reception desk and could see the payment had come out so ended up showing them my account to prove it had already been paid! The onus certainly wasn't on us to overpay and then have to struggle to get the money back! Luckily the manager arrived then and agreed to take the room off the bill and chase it up themselves if it was wrong, (it turned out the room had already been paid for and we were right not to pay again!

Unfortunately, after all this we would not choose to stay at this hotel again, but will definitely be returning to visit the country park, just staying somewhere else!
