We has just walked the Wirral Way from West Kirby (I know it's not that far, but we were Geocaching all the way and had to backtrack several times) and my son reckoned we'd covered over 10km. The weather was close, so we wimped out and struck inland for Heswall station, only to find a steepish climb. At the top was a pub! Heaven.
Ok, so we were sweaty and unkempt: we still got the locals' who-is-this? stare as we banged through the door. Nonetheless, we found seats and ordered life-restoring ale (and lager. I know, I've tried my best with him). The girl serving was pleasant.
Next time we'll stay longer.
