“Idyllic, comfortable and spacious cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 2 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Broadfield Farm Cottage is charming and pretty. Internally it is very clean and very well equipped and organized, even down to detailed lists of where to find items. The setting is peaceful, away from the road, with beautiful views over Dent Dale. This is a good base for hill and dales walking, and then relaxing by the log-burning stove. The bedroom and bathroom accommodation is ideal for a larger family or two couples. We are already planning a return visit.

“Didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 for a stay in September 2013

We chose this cottage as we wanted a peaceful and relaxing break - and we were certainly not disappointed. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and scrupulously clean, and the views are fantastic. Whilst being full of character, the cottage has every modern convenience that you need. If you have the time, try to have a trip on the Settle to Carlisle railway (lots of little places to eat in Settle or the lovely little town of Appleby). If you enjoy walking (which we do), the South Lake District and Kirkby Lonsdale are both less than an hour away. There are also lovely walks straight from the front door, so you can leave your car at the cottage. As jigsaw fans, we were particularly pleased to find a selection to keep us occupied in the evening. We couldn't think of anything that this cottage didn't have, and we'd certainly like to stay there again.

“Delightful - a homely, comfortable family bolthole in idyllic surroundings”

What a fantastic cottage! Spotlessly clean, extremely well-equipped throughout (especially the kitchen, which has everything - a refreshing change), and extremely comfortable. There was easily more than enough room for two adults and four children aged 10yrs -3yrs, and the two staircases were a fascinating diversion for them. Although the weather was good, there was so much provided by way of a full chest of family games and well-stocked bookcases with titles for kids and adults that boredom was simply never an option, even if the conditions had been terrible. The age of the property means that it has lots of character and bags of charm and it was a lovely, welcoming bolthole after a day's walking.
The kids loved exploring inside and out, and the little stream behind the property provided hours of fun messing about in the water. There is an abundance of fine walking in the immediate area and further afield, and there is a wealth of information, walking guides and OS maps provided by the owners to browse as you plan your excursions.
This really is a lovely family hideaway in truly idyllic surroundings (it's even nicer than the website photos suggest) and if you want to de-stress, get away from it all or simply Get Out There, we cannot recommend it highly enough.

“Great family house with views to die for”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Great house to get away from it and spend time with family - good facilities and the books and games were a welcome plus. Great walks on your doorstep and several great villages in the area to visit including the book town Sedburgh and pretty Ingleton with its caves and waterfalls. Also close to the Ribble Viaduct and wonderful moorland walks. Everyone enjoyed the wifi and not having a cell phones.

“A comfortable, characterful and well-equipped cottage in a quiet, rural position with beautiful views over Dentdale.”

This cottage is an ideal base both for those who want to tour the Dales and Lake District and for those who want to step out into the countrysside from their own front door. There are many lovely walks in the immediate vicinity, with excellent bird watching. Detailed local maps are provided. Good shops can be found in Sedbergh (8 miles) and some provisions are available in nearby Dent village.

The cottage is cosy and warm, with a very well-equipped kitchen and spacious dining room. The beds are comfortable and the place was spotlessly clean. Children will love the two staircases and all the nooks and crannies and there are lots of books and games to suit all ages. Small children will need watching in the garden by the steep banks of the stream.
