I have just returned from a short break in one of the Hobbit Holes. It was fantastic, the accommodation was quirky and fun and very spacious with its own bathroom. The views were absolutely amazing. Staff were all so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much to ask of them. There was a well stocked shop abd lovely bar. There were great walks with maps provided by the site. Perfect location and I'll definitely be returning.

We book for 3 nights in our motor home but there’s tents, caravans and these brilliant hobbit houses built into an embankment . The location is fantastic the views amazing, staff very friendly and welcoming, they walk you out to you pitch making sure you are aware of where all the points are directing you to the toilets and bath/shower rooms. There is a food van on site which opens for breakfasts and evening meals if you don’t fancy cooking... Dogs welcomed there’s a dog walk and shower. A bar which opens on some days from 1600 to 2300. A outside play area for the kids and also an inside one next to the bar.
With all this going on around you it’s still a peaceful quiet place to visit

We arranged to stay in a glamping pod during the school holidays instead of the generic hotel room . And what an experience the pod itself was empty so we needed everything to generally go camping with except a tent of course.
Clean facilities
Beautiful scenery
Friendly staff
Ideal location for activities

We took a day trip to the lakes rented a motor boat and had a lovely meal on the river bank

Huge children’s play area
Pub (very cheap)
Kids play room
And pool table
Seperate shower and toilet facilities
Bathroom with a bath
Water and electricity hook ups for caravans

Highly recommend for couples family’s and friends alike

Great experience will definitely be returning

Just came back from 4 nights here, and we are already planning our next stay.

The location and views are fantastic even when cloudy and overcast.

There is lots to see/do around either 10mins in the car or walking straight from the campsite itself.

Our favourite day was when we took the steamer from Pooley Bridge (5/10mins drive away) to Aira Force. We had a walk around the waterfall and then along to Glenridding. Back on the steamer to Howtown where we climbed Hallin Fell and then back on the steamer to Pooley Bridge.

On the second morning after strong winds all night our tent broke. Our options were to leave 2 nights early or see how much it would be to upgrade to the camping pods. When I went in the shop to enquire the lady on reception gave us keys to a pod free of charge ans we were able to go in straight away.

Thank you for rescuing our holiday! We really appreciated it

Good to read your review. The opening of the Ullswater Way has, in conjunction with the super Ullswater Steamers, really opened up the lake to perfect bespoke day trips. Those winds were something else.. glad we could help out. Hope to see you again one day..
