Owner description: Elefantastic is an Elephant Rehabilitation Center on the outskirts of Jaipur. The rehabilitation center is owned and managed by a former Elephant Rider (Mahut), the center focuses on healthcare and breeding management for friendly, beautiful and special elephants to produce healthy elephants to live on Earth. Although Elefantastic Rehabilitation Center was only born on 21st February 2012, Rahul's family involvement with our elephants backdate to over 4 generations. Before the Rehabilitation Center materialized, he was an elephant rider at the Amber Palace for 9 years, providing riding tours for the many tourists that visited the Amber Palace. Although he enjoyed being an elephant rider at Amber Palace & met many tourists, he couldn't help wanting something more meaningful for him and his elephants. Many of the tourists he met were interested in the day to day life of elephants and what he does with them, rather than just wanting an ordinary ride. As he pondered on the possible opportunities, he realized that he wanted to show people a more in depth insight into the lives of Asian elephants. There are vast misconceptions across India that animals - especially elephants - are very badly mistreated. He decided that he wants to prove to people that this is not always the case and take a step forward in eradicating these misconceptions. This decision inspired him to start the Rehabilitation Center, which gives an insight into the daily lives of Asian elephants. You will see that all of our elephants are well fed, with spacious rooms, attentive vet check ups every week to make sure they're all at the peak of their health, with loving and caring caretakers.

My family and I spent a wonderful day with these beautiful creatures. We were picked at our hotel approximately at 8:00 am by the driver who took us to the camp site. Rajul was waiting for us with two beautiful elephants that were rescued and he now nurtures and takes good care of them. He welcomed us and gave us a brief explanation about his place and the elephants he has rescued. We were the only ones there and we enjoyed the one to one experience with these beautiful animals The personnel was very attentive and offered us cold drinks during our stay. We spent several hours with the elephants one to one feeding them, painting them, bathing them and then walking them through a trail. We were later invited to his home where we met his mom a very nice lady, cooked a very nice meal for us. We had a great time and will never forget this magnificent experience.

Incredible place! The elephant we spent time with was rescued from a circus and she was clearly very well looked after. We had an amazing afternoon! Other elephant places nearby are a little cheaper but we saw they had the platform saddles for riding the elephant, which hurts them. 100% worth paying a little extra to make sure these wonderful intelligent creatures as looked after properly.

What a day!!!! Rahul is the perfect host and you really do just spend a day fitting in with the elephants. No performance, no putting on a show, just seeing beautiful and loved elephants in their day to day routine and being allowed to join in. Feeding and getting to know your elephant, painting your elephant jaipur style, washing and being washed by your elephant and walking with these beautiful beasts as they take their daily exercise around the grounds. Topped off with glorious food (the best we tasted in Jaipur) made and served by Rahul’s mother in their home and you will feel like you’ve been treated to THE most special of days.

I visited here with my parents. Everything was really well taken care of from the beginning and you can tell that the elephants are well taken care of. The owner introduced himself at the beginning and then a guide stayed with us and gave us drinks and gave some information about the elephants and answered our questions. We started by greeting and feeding the elephants and then used some natural paint on their bodies. After that, we washed the elephants and played with them for a while, before taking the elephants for a walk around the village. We ended our trip by going to the owners mothers house for dinner. She is a great cook and gave us one of the best meals that we had in India. This is an absolute must if you are in Jaipur!

We've been to India twice now and this is one of the most memorable experiences we've had, not only for my children but for us as well.
