I must admit that the fact that the proprietor made no accommodation to pick up guests at the train station given the steep and long climb to the guesthouse, made a bad first impression. Upon arrival we realized no elevators or porters so the climbing with heavy luggage continued. Each day we walked down the hill to the train station to ride into Arosa but took a taxi back, since the taxi can leave you at the top of the hill.
We are not among those American tourists that expect everyone to speak our language and so the difficulties with communication were not off-putting. Although at least one English language television station on their cable selection would have been appreciated. On the other hand the lack of attention to details was: insufficient bath products, difficulty obtaining ice, inconsistent breakfasts, unfamiliarity of staff with their own property.
The guesthouse also includes the only restaurant in Langwies (Swiss and Chinese menu) which seemed to be popular with the locals. We sampled the Chinese side of the menu one evening and found the food good, with the exception of the drastically undercooked chicken wings.
On the plus side, the rooms were clean and comfortable, if somewhat bare, and we loved the heated floor in the bathroom. The rooms on the side facing away from the road have a lovely view.More
