What a lovely stay! Would recommend Kolkol to anyone. Loved hearing the lions roar in the evenings and the tubs are so relaxing. My husband and I couldn't have enjoyed this stay any more. Thank you so much

We chose the KolKol cabin and we were not disappointed. This cabin provided us with sweeping views of the fynbos from our deck and when relaxing in the wood-fired tub. The tub, ofcourse, did not disappoint and there is something priceless about being in a hot tub at night with the stars above being on display.

As there are no TV's (there is signal), our young family really bonded and I felt a sense of peace, that only comes from being off-the-grid. The cabin itself is luxurious with its finishes and the attention to detail is praiseworthy. The staff were so friendly and good - one of the staff made sure our tub was ready when we came back from a day out.

We, will be coming back for sure!

Room Tip: The KolKol cabin has the biggest size wood fired tub alongside the King Cabin

KolKol Mountain Lodge, a rustic yet luxurious destination, nestled against the mountains in a secluded and tranquil valley with sweeping views of the of the Babilonstoren Mountains as well as the fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

From the moment I arrived at the KolKol Log Cabin, I was blown away by the breathtakingly beautiful setting. Being surrounded by such vast beauty, with the fynbos in full bloom and hearing the waterfall in the distance, I could not help but feel totally overwhelmed! Never have I seen so many sugarbirds before as here at KolKol.

The cabin was perfect and we were welcomed by a private heated wood-fired hot tub and a complimentary basket, filled with coffee, rusks, organic eggs and various other goodies. The welcome letter was much appreciated!

The cabin is rustic, built from logs and is adorned by a rock floor. The wooded and reed ceilings add great warmth to the cabin. However, "luxurious" is really the word! I particularly enjoyed the large fireplace, the abundant wood and the well equipped kitchenette, with quality appliances. The bedrooms are generous in size. KolKol Cabin sleeps 6 and offers 3 bedrooms with the main bedroom en-suite. Both bathrooms only have showers. A bath to relax in would have been awesome and do believe that some smaller cabins may offer that. The beds are comfortable and we enjoyed the fresh crisp linen and quality towels. The main bedroom could have done with a small server as I enjoy unpacking my toiletries etc. but by no means did this defer from the overall comfort,

We had an amazing time making use of the hot-tub, enjoying a great traditional South African "braai" (barbeque) on the patio and making a "potjie" the following night. I was impressed to find the pot for our use. In South Africa, a potjiekos, literally translated "small pot food", is a dish prepared outdoors. It is traditionally cooked in a round, cast iron, three-legged pot. All that deliciousness in one pot. Allow about 4 hours to cook it perfectly.

We went on a 3km walking trail on one of the mornings. This is highly recommended. Walking through the fynbos makes one feel Asif one is in a never ending garden! The proteas, pincushions and Kolkol were just a few of the plant species to mention! We took a walk to the waterfall and sat there for a while, admiring nature's beauty and simply breathing a little. The air was filled with bird song and a strong flower scent. Bliss!

We look forward to our return to this peace of heaven. Thank you Team KolKol for our amazing stay and experience.

"KolKol Mountain lodge is situated in the Kogelberg Biosphere reserve. This biosphere encompasses the entire coastal area from Gordon's Bay to the Bot River and inland to Grabouw and the Groenland Mountains. The Kogelberg Nature Reserve forms the largest part of the core area of the biosphere reserve. This reserve, known as the "heart of the fynbos", is home to an incredible 1 600 different plant species, making it one of the world's richest sites of plant diversity!"
