Fantastic location home from home and close to the Steam train vintage station and not far from heartbeat film set. Would certainly recommend to family and friends!

“Great weekend at the cottage!”

My wife & I had a fabulous weekend stay at Lilac Cottage in the lovely village of Grosmont.
The cottage was very clean and well furnished with everything we needed for our stay. It was an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.

As we were only there for the weekend we ate at the local pub one night....Delicious!...... and in Whitby the following day.
Grosmont is a beautiful little village with a really quaint train station.
We also stumbled across a maintenance shed along from the train station where old steam trains were being re-furbished by enthusiasts and I was delighted to see the ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’......amongst others...... being restored. I had a pin badge of this train as a kid!....A real blast from the past!

We went for a walk over the hills and loved the fabulous country views.
The highlight though was a trip on an old steam train to Whitby for Fish & Chips.
We will be returning to Lilac Cottage and hope to stay a little longer next time so that we can explore a little more!
