“Beautiful quaint cottage”

My daughter in law found this cottage on the internet for me, I had been let down by a tour operator for Easter in the lakes.
The cottage is in a lovely village and is situated in a very quiet location which I loved.
I was on my own and really felt safe.
The cottage is beautifully restored and I needed for nothing, it's warm and cosy, I really was happy there. The rear garden is steep, which I already knew before I arrived.. I managed to venture to the highest point which I found pleasing at 66 yrs old. The directions I was given by the owner to find the cottage was easy to follow I found it easily.
I would definatly recommend this cottage to anyone

“Very average and dated (not in a good way)”
Reviewed 22 March 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Nice cottage. Just a few small improvements I feel would enhance someone's stay. The cottage's furnishings are very dated. The cottage has so much potential, so it's a shame really. It would have been nice to have some more information on the local area (not the TV licence certificate), things to do and places to see as mentioned in the cottage description. The amenities outlined in the advert for cottage do not reflect reality. The kitchen is not modern, there was no dining table with 4 chairs, just a small table which folded out to be still a small table. There is no balcony or terrace (from what I define a balcony/terrace), there is a steep garden terrace. The local guides and maps were very dated and muddled up. Parking should be clearly stated that it is on-road parking, there is no driveway for your car. The garden is also not private, with it over looking a row of cottages and seems to be a communal garden with no restrictions for others to go in to any garden they choose. Overall, I was quite disappointed with my stay. I have stayed at many holiday rentals and through tripadvisor and I felt like I had better customer service with others. Some flowers on arrival or even a small note to say welcome and to enjoy our stay. Avoid if you are looking for something special.

I'm very sorry you were disappointed with your 2 night stay, but I cannot agree with many of your comments.
I agree the cottage is not furnished in a modern style - it is an old stone cottage not a modern flat. There are many leaflets in the cottage about the local area and places to go and see. I'm not sure why you couldn't find these, or maybe they weren't filed a-z. We do keep recent editions of local OS maps, and there is wi fi for guests who seek information online.
It is true that the kitchen has a gas hob not an induction hob, many people prefer this. The dining table is small, there are 2dining chairs upstairs as well as the 2 downstairs. The cottage is advertised for 2 people so there should be no problem with this.
The terrace is in the garden, as shown in the photos on the website. The information clearly states that the garden is steep, but not that it is not overlooked. The garden has a fence on one side and shrubs on the other and clearly belongs exclusively to the cottage.
Free on-street parking is directly outside the front door on a quiet road. Carrying luggage in is not a problem.
I do send messages wishing guests an enjoyable stay and offering contact for any clarification or further information.
Mosts guests have been happy with the cottage and consider it good value for money, clean, cosy and comfortable. It is not advertised nor priced as modern, luxury accommodation.

“Peace and quiet”
Reviewed 10 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Sweet little cottage in a terrace of seven stone cottages. Surprising spacious inside especially bedroom and bathroom. Every comfort and convenience but I would never attempt to climb the garden as I am not a mountaineer. A tranquil village and the beauty of the countryside goes without saying

I'm so glad you liked the cottage.
The garden does have steep steps to the flat sitting area and is on a sleep bank. It has the advantage of being quite a sun trap so that it can be very warm to sit outside.
