As the previous review states. The pictures present a place a little bit better than reality.
I like to be positive so I won’t waffle on. Here are the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I want to finish on a positive so let’s start with the ugly.
Ugly: Maintenance is a huge issue. Tv doesn’t work, satellite is non existent, DVD player doesn’t work. I notified via trip adviser and it was acknowledged but nothing happened. Air cons weren’t cool so I cleaned the filters which were solidly blocked with dust and dirt and then they were fine. Fan in master is to noisy to sleep with. The guitar strings were broken so I re stringed it and it was nice to be able to play.
BAD: we were given 3 contact numbers on arrival to a place we’ve never been. None worked and the taxi driver was lost but that got sorted as we had a map given to us. That helped a lot.
When we found our contact they had no idea we were coming. We arrived at 1.30 and she said some one was in the house? We followed her up to the accomodation and luckily the person had just left so they cleaned while we waited.
THE GOOD. All that being said, the beds are fantastic, the bathrooms, fantastic. the Pool, fantastic. Wifi was impeccable. The house gets cleaned every 3 days so you get fresh towels and bed linen. The overall concept of this place, in a gated community, is really good.
Location is great, well appointed kitchen with everything needed.
Our contact, Pit. She is wonderful and her restaurant is great. We tried just about everything. She even organised our bikes.
Nothing was a problem, lovely lady.
The gate keeper is the friendliest bloke.
We even met the owner, as he wasn’t expecting us to be there and he seems like a really nice guy.
U2 massage and laundry service just outside the gate I highly recommend. Ask for Ploy.
Overall, a bit disappointed. But once we settled in, we really liked the place.
If the owners work a little on maintenance and quality control of their product this place could be 5 stars.
I have to say we were disappointed when we walked through the front door on arrival. The photos looked gorgeous but the general feel of the place was a bit run down and unloved. The beds were gorgeous - super comfortable, it has a good TV that we were able to plug a USB into to watch our TV and fast, reliable WiFi, and it is in a great location. 5 mins to beautiful Karon Beach and 2 or 3 mins to shops, restaurants and massage places. A few small changes would make this place lovely. It needs poolside loungers, a good clean, new cushion covers on the sofa and dining chairs. It grew on me as we stayed there and I do think we would return. The biggest thing missing for us was a couple of loungers by the pool. We enjoyed massages at U2 at the end of the road and dinner and cocktails at E.A.T. We had great Thai food at Sala Bua, just a few minutes walk away. The villa was difficult to find. You should look out for ‘ICE travel agent on the corner of Patak Soi 14, then turn right off Patak Soi 14 into ‘Prima Villas’ which also seems to be called ‘Karon Villa’.
