We enjoyed our experiences in the Pyrenees and visiting Carcassonne. However we had mixed feelings about Les Aux Tranquilles. The house and grounds, and our room were fine. Arriving and leaving by car caused delays until the owner's dogs were secured. We had prebooked demi-pension expecting to be offered Frence home cooking and were disappointed with the English owner's interpretation of French food. He imposed an extra charge when we cancelled the demi-pension arrangement. We ate at the local auberge for the other days and can recommend it for its good, unpretentious French country fare. We were also surprised that the owner of Les Aux Tranquilles smoked in our company at pre-dinner drinks on the outdoor terrace. Also an unwelcome surprise was his telling of his war stories during dinner conversation.
