“A Beautiful Croatian Hideaway”
Reviewed 1 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We've just had a fantastic week at Villa Stolovi. There were 9 of us in total; 6 adults and 3 children (ages ranging from 4 to 72!).

After flying to Dubrovnik we collected our rental car and drove for about 2 hours (including a short delay through the Bosnian border) to Klek where we collected the keys and met the agent who showed us to the villa in Slivno Ravno (well signposted from the main road).

We were completely overwhelmed by the generosity and hospitality of Marijana (the villa owner) from start to finish of our holiday. From arriving at the villa to find a fridgeful of complimentary food and drink, to the traditional Croatian meal that was cooked for us by Marijana and her mother-in-law, and the hamper of gifts for each family.

The villa itself is in a secluded and picturesque hill top location with amazing sea views. Nothing can really prepare you for just how beautiful this countryside setting is. Photos just don't do it justice! The inside of the villa is well-equipped, clean, spacious and comfortable, but we spent most of our time together in the summer kitchen or around the pool. The kids loved the pool and the playground, as well as the tortoises and the cats!

The local beaches are at nearby Klek and Duba. Klek is busier with restaurants and shops, whilst Duba is quieter and less-developed, but cleaner.

We walked the walls at Ston (5km long - over 400 steps!), followed by a delicious fish lunch at Bakus. We also ate at the Laterna on the outskirts on Metkovic - both restaurants were well-recommended by Marijana.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are sold at regular intervals on the roadside, but we did our food shopping at a supermarket in Opuzen.

The weather was great, food and drink very cheap, and the Croatian people we met were so friendly. This was our first time to Croatia and we'll definitely visit again!

I stayed here for a week with my family. Altogether there were 8 adults and 5 children, so this villa was perfect as it housed us all comfortably.
It was clean, nicely furnished and all the rooms had sea views.

We spent most our time in the summer kitchen, where we could enjoy the spectacular views and beautiful sunsets, as well as being able to keep an eye on the children while they swam or played in the playground.

Having a car is a must, and allowed us to explore the town, the local beaches and some of the islands at ease.

The Deak Family and the staff at Bonaca were very welcoming and hospitable, always available to advise or arrange excursions if required. They made us a wonderful lunch, gave us their plum brandy and cherries in brandy, which were delicious, and gift bags! Thanks guys!

Our week passed too quickly and we were sad to leave ....

I would definitely recommend large groups or families to stay at this villa.
