“Amazing place....quiet secluded spacious”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

What a fantastic week we had at the Hidden Mill.
The mill its self is stunning, as are the gardens. Loats of space, we had friends and family visit us and the mill accomodated us all comfortable.
We stayed in the area to visit Galloway Activity centre, thankfully we had plans to get wet(windsurfing) as the weather wasn't particularly giving us a choice(tho lovely evenings).
There is loads to do in the area, cream o galloway ice cream fun park, castles galore, beaches, walks, Kircudbright tattoo...oooohhh and fish suppers!!
The TV was small and initially that bothered us, (hey we live in Texas where everything is bigger)but soon we very much enjoyed no TV.
We were very grateful of the log stove in the evenings, every night we had card/board games by the fire.(I know...Thats a Scottish summer).
Only downside was lack of washer dryer, as we are travelling for 1 month we have to keep up with laundry and the nearest towns are 30mins away.
The mill was very clean, well equipped with a mish mash of every thing, but everything did, I left with a great feeling of if it works and its comfortable, and your happy.......why change it!
A fun filled, relaxing & refreshing stay.....

We stayed at The Hidden Mill in April 15 for a week with our young children. The mill itself was very spacious and beautifully furnished - the kids had a fab time exploring and we all settled in very quickly. Great kitchen and bathroom facilities and we loved the fact that there was a kids bedroom specifically kitted out for young uns. The owners - a quirky duo - Lorraine and Uula were on hand to help with advice and recommendations which really made us feel very welcome and was a big bonus in terms of our stay there. The grounds of the property are extremely well kept and provided excellent views from all angles - we loved exploring the surrounding areas and this kept us busy for a few days! We could have easily fitted in two more families into the property so we'll back with friends in tow! All in all, a great experience and we can see why it's called The Hidden Mill! Thanks Lorraine and Uula for your hospitality! xx

“Beautiful building in an incredible location”
Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We travelled with young children. There are aspects of this house which are great for kids - the garden, the fire pits, the scale and space. However for very small children it may cause some concern that the lower floor opens straight out onto a steep bank down to the quite fast flowing river and the door cannot be locked. There is also no washing machine so not ideal, the nearest launderette is in Castle Douglas. House a bit short on glasses, crockery etc and what is there is a bit mismatched and shabby.
However, the mill is beautiful and the gardens amazing. The hosts are helpful and friendly. I'd definitely recommend this to groups of older people / extended families looking for a break with a difference.

“Unique and delightful property in a gorgeous setting”
Reviewed 6 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This is a spacious and beautifully restored property in the lovely heart of Galloway, with access to some quirkily thought out gardens and outdoor areas. We had a great time and the owners could not have been more helpful, lending us various baby equipment to make our stay easier.

The only thing lacking was white goods. The fridge is a little small given how many people the house accommodates, meaning we had to shop little and often - and there was NO WASHING MACHINE, which is not ideal when you are spending a week with a baby and a preschooler. I can heartily recommend 40 Degrees in Castle Douglas, who did us a service wash for £12.

Otherwise the whole experience was great.

PS Although there is wifi, it is typically rural so don't expect to stream netflix. No failing at all on the part of the owners, it's the price you pay for such a blissfully remote setting.
