I cannot recommend this cottage enough. Warren has ensured that you have everything you could possibly want and more. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, I have never stayed somewhere that is so much a home from home. The beds were so comfortable, the best night's sleep I've had in a long time. The local village shop has everything you could possibly want. We had stopped at a supermarket in Windermere, but quite honestly we could have got everything we needed in the local Co-op. The Wainwrights Pub serves amazing food, we can only vouch for the main courses though as we were all so full up we couldn't fit a pudding in. We will definitely be returning and I will definitely be telling everyone how wonderful it was here. Thanks Warren!

Thank you very much for the review Nadine - the cheque's in the post! Glad you found the village shop well stocked - it is surprisingly tardis like. I'm always nervous about recommending it to guests - some people prefer to shop where there are at least 5 different types of hummous! But, it stocks most of the every day essentials and I do like supporting it as I would hate it if it ever closed. And I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage - I try and provide most things but always welcome suggestions for additions. There will be a Monopoly set when you return! Have a great rest of the summer. “I can't rate this booking highly enough!”
Reviewed 3 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

I travelled with my Husband, Son, Daughter, Son in law and Grandchildren aged 2 and 9. The cottage was suitable for everyone. It was comfortable, clean and in a lovely position in the village. The area was lovely (the good weather did help) but even if it had been bad the games room was a good standby. My 9 year old Grandaughter in particular enjoyed the games room (although some of the board games had been left damaged previously and the batteries in the Wii needed changing ... But if these haven't been reported back the owner wouldn't know,) I was a bit gutted that it wasn't cold enough to light the log burner, the cottage was lovely and warm. Thanks Warren for your valuable, practical info and directions. We had a lovely stay ... We will be back if we possibly can.

Great to hear you had a good time and the weather was kind. Apologies for the damaged games and missing batteries - alas I didn't know but thanks for the feedback. It's difficult to stock check on everything especially when we have back to back bookings - it's been a busy summer! But now it's getting quieter I'll get up there next week and do a full check and replace where necessary. Hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warren

“Fantastic house and surroundings.”
Reviewed 1 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We had a very wet week - but thanks to this wonderful house - we still had an amazing holiday. The house was warm and spacious and had everything we could need. The children loved the games room and we all enjoyed the amazing walks. Only used the car once the whole time we were there!. Pub, shop and nearby walks were all excellent and house had all the mod cons and kitchen was very well stocked.
Would recommend to everyone. Thank you

Many thanks for your kind review. Apologies for the unseasonal wetness - I normally order the rain to be delivered inbetween guests but there was some mix up with the delivery (even the weather gods can get it wrong!). I've had suggestions that I could turn the games room into an extra bedroom or en-suite for one of the adjacent bedrooms, but I've found with my own experience that it's good to have some internal entertainment when the rare rain turns up. And I've tried to stock the games room to keep children (and adults) of all ages occupied. Hope to see you again next year, when I'll make sure the sun coincides with your stay. Thanks again. Warren

This is a great house in the heart of the Langdales.. well equipped kitchen, wifi, games room with pool table, comfy beds, nice lounge, pub only 100 yards a way. We had an extended family gathering there with five adults and three children. What is not to like. highly recommended. .And the Langdales are stunningly beautiful of course.!

Many thanks for your kind review Stephen - the back-to-work-blues has obviously not kicked in yet! I think you had some great weather too - Sept is a very undervalued month I feel - but I like to keep the Games room well stocked so there's something to keep children (and adults) occupied if the rare rain makes an appearance. And yes, the Langdales are stunningly beautiful - I never tire of the vista you get of the 'Pikes' as you drive over the cattle grid at the entrance to Elterwater Common. Hope to see you down again next year - the sofa-bed in the games room will definitely be in place then!! Cheers, W

“Amazing Find”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

When I search for a property on Holiday Lettings I am very specific - must have wifi, dishwasher, 4 bedrooms etc etc. This place has absolutely everything we need and more! 2 tv's (great when you have teenagers), dishwasher, washing machine, 2 loos, loads of great walks straight from the door. Ambleside just 4 miles away. Warren has thought of everything. There is a pay phone, meaning if you need to contact someone urgently you can either phone them for a small fee or get them to call you. In addition there is rock solid wifi. There is a games room. The bedrooms are perfectly big enough with plenty of storage. Plenty of dishes/cutlery. Shop literally 20 paces away. Pub 100 metres away with friendly staff and serving great food. Langdale Spa within 8 minute walk - had a lovely spa day there with my daughter. Tesco also delivered here! We will DEFINITELY come back if Warren will have us, at least once a year. It's a great house, in a great location, priced to reflect what it does and doesn't have. There are a couple of downsides - most notably no loo in the basement, meaning you have to go up 2 flights of stairs from the basement bedrooms to use the loo, however, we knew this before we came! Also, no mobile signal anywhere near (some would understandably say this is a definite advantage). We would defy anyone not to think this is a great location for a Lake District holiday - far enough away from "tourists" but close enough to civilisation when you need it. Well Done Warren, exactly what a holiday cottage should be!

Wow - great review Rachel. Many thanks indeed and very grateful for the constructive feedback. Summer duvets (in lieu of the winter duvets) now ordered and should be in place for next week. But, the downstairs loo might take a little longer! Of course, the mobile signal is beyond my control, but as you say, it can be a relief to be disconnected from the world every now and then! Hope to see you back. Warren
