We spent the second week of our honeymoon at Roveglio after spending the first week travelling around Italian cities and were ready for a change of pace. Jeannie, the owner, had been extremely helpful and provided us with excellent directions from Milan Airport as well as answering any queries we had. When we arrived at the cottage we were met by the lady from the farm next door who gave us the key and showed us in to the property. We were delighted with the property. It was light and airy and very clean. There was also a pack with lots of information on things to do and see and places to eat etc. We cracked open a bottle of Prosecco (from the little supermarket at the bottom of the hill) and ventured out on to the balcony terrace. The views are completely stunning and photographs simply do not do them justice! At the time we stayed the weather was beautiful, warm sunshine and blue skies but the mountains were still snow capped, it really was breathtaking. We were also able to purchase various items of dairy produce from the farm next door at an extremely reasonable price and they were very accommodating and wiling to show us round the farm (they did not speak very good English though but this just added to the fun!) You could sometimes hear the goats skipping around on the hillside with their little bells, it was beautiful.
There is plenty to do and explore in the village. There is a delightful local market on Tuesday mornings where we purchased some lovely fish and vegetables. There are many delightful public walks of varying levels of effort/length to take in the surrounding sights as well as activities and cafes around the lake. We would recommend the little boat trip over the lake to Villa del Balbianello (Star Wars fans may recognise the view from the balcony there!).
Jeannie also gave us details of plenty of things on offer just a short drive away but we found on this occasion that we simply didn't get chance! We will just have to go back again to continue where we left off!
To summarise, we had an amazing time during our stay at Roveglio and plan to go back there again. It was the perfect way to end our honeymoon and we have many fond memories and photographs to look back on!

The cottage is roomy, very well equipped and has magnificent views from the two terraces across Lake Como. It is pleasant to walk downhill to the lakefront to sample the many restaurants but often too tempting to stay put and enjoy an al fresco meal and a lovely bottle of local wine on one of the terraces whilst watching boats sail across the lake and enjoying stunning sunsets.
It is perfect for families, with lots of equipment provided, a large separate laundry room, plenty of room for children to run about and lots of lidos and child-friendly activities in easy reach, however, you would also be hard pressed to find a more idyllic spot for a couple to enjoy a romantic break.
The estate makes it's own cheese and olive oil (both delicious).
We have stayed twice, both times during August, and found it ideal. The excellent lido at Lenno has always been uncrowded and so have the ferries across to Bellagio and attractions such as Villa Carlotta. There are a few companies from which you can hire a motorboat and enjoy a great day out on Lake Como.
