We drove 25 miles to enjoy a drink and a meal looking over the canal. It was a beautiful evening and not that busy....there were plenty of seats available inside and outside. I asked for a menu and was told they were at the end of the bar...no offer to get me one. I waited a while to be served for drinks and was told there was only 1 till working and so it might be a while.
We looked at the menu and then tried to order to be told they weren't taking anymore orders for 25 minutes.....no explanation why. We went back after about 20 minutes and were told they still weren't taking orders, I had to ask how long it would be before they started taking orders and was told they weren't sure. We were very disappointed and voted with our feet. We left and drove to Southport. It's too easy for pubs and restaurants to blame the public for not visiting them when in some cases it's their own fault.
