We arrived at the cottage, after a drive from London, on one of the hottest days of the year and were very pleased to find that it was very cool inside the cottage. The décor is very quirky but the cottage is very well equipped. There are 3 good-sized bedrooms and a large bathroom upstairs. Downstairs has a large sitting room and a kitchen diner with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and a range cooker. There is also a wet room with toilet on the ground floor. We were greeted by one of the owners who explained how everything worked and gave us some useful information about nearby restaurants. There is a well-stocked village shop and a filling station 2 minutes walk away across the road and there is a pleasant pub almost next door. The only drawbacks to this cottage are that the wet room is very small with not much room to move and the garden is accessed from an upstairs bedroom. We were aware of this before we arrived but did not realise that having walked out of the bedroom, there was a further set of stone steps up to the garden room and further steps with no handrail up into garden room itself. This was not very accessible for the two older people in our party. Also the bath in the upstairs bathroom is very deep and has no grab rails so is difficult for people who are not too sprightly. However, we enjoyed our week in the cottage very much appreciating its coolness during a very hot week.
