“A nice estate property with a pretty house”
Reviewed 21 March 2012 for a stay in February 2012

The website that Carlos has made does an excellent job in portraying his beautiful house. It's as good as the photos make it look! The position of the property is fantastic. A long, steep, gravel driveway leads you up to the two-bedroom house. You are above a small village and a main road is close by that connects you easily to all parts of the island. The drive from the north airport was about 20 minutes. The supermarket is about a 10 minute drive and has pretty much everything you will need, including a butcher and deli counter.

Everything has been done to make the place comfortable and attractive. It’s an easy house to move into for a week and feel right at home. The kitchen is stocked not just with pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, but also basic cooking essentials. The bed we slept in was perfect for a good night’s sleep.

From the front terrace you can see El Teide in the distance. The house is located just on the border of the Anaga park which with its hiking trails and places of interest I could have passed the entire vacation happily there. In the end we did lots of different of different activities all over the island. Both Carlos and his brother kept in touch during the week and were happy to offer advice on what to do on Tenerife.

February was fairly cold in general on Tenerife, so bring warmer clothes. There are portable heaters inside the house, but it’s chilly in the evenings outside.

“Fantastic, peaceful & spacious surroundings to enjoy all of Tenerife”

Finca El Roque is a little gem hidden away for the traveller, rather than the obvious sunny resorts of south west Tenerife. It's close to everything though, it took us only 1 hour to get to/from the airport so it was really accesible.

It's in a pretty, rural location that suits stays for a couple like us or a family that wants space around them - there's a supermarket and towns close by and the pictures are exactly as it comes - there's no clever wide angle lenses that make it look huge and then you arrive to disappointment, you get what you see.

The owner, Carlos, is very supportive with lots of recommendations and there is so much to see in the north, whether it's shopping, bars, restaurants, walking, hiking, or just chilling out. Make sure you get directions to the villa as the website is v helpful but you just need instructions for the last couple of roads.

If you want something different to a package option in the obvious areas then go for it! My only recommendation is to be packed clothes wise for various weather as we went 13-20th Nov and it was geenrally about 20 degrees althought the micro climates can change it from overcast/rainy/sunny throughout thre day.
