We had three rooms which varied in size and services. They were to the front with good views but noisy traffic outside the windows. Either baths that took an age to fill or shower in my instance that was a dribble of water and useless. The rooms were clean and towels changed regularly. The beds were comfortable. The evening meals while limited in scope were on the whole well cooked and satisfactory. The breakfasts were horrendous and the service of them worse. Even when down first after 8am the breakfast was not produced until some 35/40 minutes later. The food was badly cooked and inedible. The eggs were runny and that was the white! No difference between poached and fried. and the scrambled eggs were like hard dunlopillow and rather green inside. We later chose cereal and toast only. The bacon and sausage were overcooked. The bar was sparse at the gantry and lacked choice. Overall a rundown hotel needing a good freshen up.

Stopped here for a meal a few weeks ago. The only tables free were in the snug behind the bar. The menu was pretty standard pub grub - we ordered the Hunters Chicken. The food wasn't exciting, but was totally fine. My main issue was that the music was so loud we could barely hear each other across the table. The two waitresses were very friendly and definitely helped to improve my impression of an otherwise fairly tired pub/restaurant.

Called in for an early evening drink on our first day of our holiday. Great location overlooking the village. The place was clean and the staff welcoming, BUT beware if you are a visitor you are charged more than the locals for drinks. 40p a pint more on Carlsberg. Not sure about the legality of that. Not impressed.

The beds were clean and comfortable, but the carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed before or during our stay. The shower in one room was electric and worked well, but our shower was connected to a boiler which was only turned on at certain times. Breakfasts were good, burger and lasagna were excellent - home made, but the meat in the steak and ale pie was very tough. The meat should have been cooked slowly for 2 hours before making the pie. The staff were friendly and helpful, but kept some guests awake one night by a group chatting loudly under the guest's window.

The only pub in the village and clearly popular with locals, especially during happy hour, but not ideal. Service is incredibly slow - insufficient staff - and the menu is predictable and tired with typical pub grub, definitely overpriced. Limited menu and lacking in imagination and finesse.
