“A perfect holiday retreat for walking, relaxing and sightseeing”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We loved our stay in Nicola's lovely house, high on the hill in the historical section of Vernet les Bains and surrounded by the Pyrenees Mountains. The town was friendly, with all the necessary conviences and a bustling square that hosted regular markets. The house was comfortable and stocked with everything we needed, including views and a lovely cool balcony, shaded by a grape vine. It was a perfect base for relaxing and exploring the surrounding area by car and on foot. Nicola had ensured there were plenty of tourist brochures and guides to the area, which along with the informative guest book, helped us to plan our time well while we were there. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

“The eastern Pyrenees is one of our favorite places.”
Reviewed 21 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

This is a comfortable, spacious and well equipped house located in the lovely old town part of Vernet. It is also within the boundaries of the National Park.

An excellent base for both walking and mountain biking. Abbey St Martin of Canigou, Tour de Goa and the waterfalls of St Vincent and Anglais are all within an afternoon's walking distance.

We are mountain bikers, and the climb from Fillols up Canigou to Les Cortalets is a memorable ride with excellent views over the valley on an interesting technical track. Take some money with you, there is a refuge cafe at the top. The Col de Mantet, and further east the Col de Palomere will stretch both legs and lungs.

When you want to head into Perpignan for the day you can catch a bus or train for just 1euro per person.

We never normally go to the same place twice, but this time maybe, just maybe.....

“Home away from home - Views & Space”
Reviewed 20 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

Great village to base yourself in, lots to do in the area, brillient views. Very well equiped house. Balconey only big enough to fit 1 person on but good views from the lounge area. Parking close by but not gauranteed, each time you leave your park is taken, but mostly got a park nearby. House has everything you could need and well thought out folders of information on area. Very clean and so spacious, room for everyone. Would reccomend.

“Beautiful views in old upper part of Vernet les Bains”
Reviewed 9 September 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed here for one week in July of 2012, and enjoyed our stay very much.

There was ample room for a family of four. Although we made use of only the two bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor, if needed, one could also use the bedroom on the ground floor which was essentially like a separate living space- with bathroom, sitting area and a little terrace. From the main living room there was a lovely view of the mountains, and the furniture was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen had all necessary items for making meals, as well as a table for four people.
There are nice folders that have been assembled to provide information about the surrounding areas, as well as maps and tips. While the house is situated under the church, the bells (4x an hour) were actually not intrusive, especially with windows closed.
There is a fabulous town pool complex, with a diving board, fun slide on other side, as well as a kiddie pool and lap pool. Fun, eclectic music is played and delicious crepes and other snacks are made poolside.
While in the area we visited Serrabone, Villefranche and Fort Liberia, St Martin de Canigou, les Gorges de Caranca (terrifying but great according to my husband and daughter who were brave enough to do it!), saw the very interesting Ile de Tet-'les Orgues', and hiked up to the Cascade d'Anglais above Vernet which was also lovely.
In short a great location for sightseeing and hiking in the area, in a homey and pleasant attached house. Nicola, the owner, was a pleasure to exchange emails with, and was very helpful with any questions we had.

“charming appartment, with an exellent view to the mountains”
Reviewed 28 August 2012 for a stay in June 2012

The owner showed great hospitality. They were very concerned that we should have a perfect stay. And we did!! The appartment is well restored, very charming. The kitchen is very well equiped, and spices are growing on the balcony and outside the kitchenwindow, nice.
We enjoyed the public swimmingpool in the afternoon. A nice place to relaxe after some hours of hiking.
In the town there is a fine Intermarche, or you can go to the marked in the town three days a week.
