We stayed for two days. We were made welcome from the moment we stepped into the reception area. The forms were filled out and we only needed to sign. Nice welcome greeting in the room. The breakfast was magnificent. The hotel is so well kept with an eye to every detail.

Our family had a relaxing time and enjoyed fabulous cuisine during our stay. Castle was beautifully decorated for the holiday seasons and knowing we had a kid, they had a xmas tree set up for our room, along with a welcome gift for our son. Hotel is owned by Armin and his lovely wife Manuela, who are passionate about what they do. Armin, a very amusing character, hosted the hotel tour himself. We had spa/pool services and an hour long horse drawn carriage ride around the grounds. Further, staff arranged for a professional photographer for us to have our family photos taken since the castle is so beautiful.

My wife and I stayed here for one night as part of our stay in Berlin. The hotel is about 2 hours from Berlin but this should not deter visitors from visiting.

We loved the fact that the hotel is in the middle of the German countryside with several hiking trails available and very few people around. We stayed in a junior suite at an excellent rate and loved how spacious it was.

Sadly we did not manage to eat at the main restaurant which was closed when we were there on a Monday, but the brasserie where we had our meals was good enough. Breakfast in particular was delicious.

Service was for the most part excellent. Melanie who was at the front desk was prompt, friendly and helpful from the moment we made contact via email. Unfortunately there were some minor blips in service at the brasserie, but nothing so bad enough to detract from a wonderful experience.

I have stayed at burg Schlitz for work. The hotel, scenery and service is very good. Just not for a business trip. Breakfast starts at 7:30, much to late as my meetings started at 8 am. The wellness centre closed when you get back in the hotel and the reception only opens at 8 am, so difficult to check-out.
I think this hotel is worth advising when you want to spend a short holiday or even a honeymoon.

We booked this hotel rather last minute, as we were driving through Germany on our way home. The staff were all pleasant, but I must single out Barbara for her wonderfully warm and inviting attitude, despite us showing up rather bedraggled with three small children in tow. She welcomed us with cool towels and a refreshing drink, then assisted us to our room.

We stayed in the Grand Suite, and grand it was. The suite was beautifully decorated, and the ceilings felt five meters high. Everything, from the luxurious bathroom to the walk-in closet, was impressive.

We dined in the room the first night, which was perfect after a long day of travel. The food was excellent. On the second night, my husband and I enjoyed the restaurant together. We chose two different menus with wine tastings. The food was well-prepared, and the wines were interesting (some delicious), but overall, it was not the highlight of our time there.

The hotel has a lovely spa, which my husband and children thoroughly enjoyed one day. They were completely alone the whole time, which meant the children could splash in the indoor pool a bit without disturbing others, while my husband enjoyed the sauna.

We also enjoyed walking through the lovely nature surrounding the hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to couples who are looking for a short escape. It is really not suited for young children, even though the staff (again, Barbara in particular), never made us feel unwelcome. But the hotel has a quiet elegance that children simply disrupt, no matter how well-behaved they may be. It was a nice place for us to unwind, though, after a long road trip visiting family.

Room tip: I would imagine all the rooms are lovely, but the grand suite was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend it.
