“Village, beach and pet perfection.”
Reviewed 31 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

My wife and I had never been to Beer before and we were taken aback by the beauty and tranquility of this small Devon village. This was a perfect pet friendly cottage for us to stay in. The pebble beach is a short walk from the front door with beach side cafes catering for all types of refreshment, including deck chair hire. There are no lifeguards present so keep an eye on younger ones as there is a steep shelf from the shore. The water is clean and once you were in relatively warm! There are plenty of walks with breath taking views along the way that we all enjoyed, especially the dog, as the weather was also perfect during our stay. On your doorstep there is a deli, fish and chip shop and pubs. There is also a restaurant next door, The Smugglers Kitchen, that served one of the best meals I have had in recent times; the rest of the family agreed as well. The cottage itself is modern and clean with plenty of upstairs space with the 3 good sized bedrooms and well equipped bathroom, extra towels and bed linen, if required, is also available. The open plan area on the ground floor is just right and you also have the court yard area outside and a grass area as well, with seating and deck chairs, to relax in if the weather allows. On the one slightly overcast day I took my 11 year old to Pecorama. This is on the other side of the village and is walkable but with a steep hill to negotiate. I thought he may be at that age where he would find it boring but he enjoyed every minute we were there, especially the train ride, with the views from the top again an added bonus. It is well worth a visit. Car parking is behind the Dolphin Hotel and is a reasonable price for the week. My car did not move as we did everything we needed to on foot. I would highly recommend this cottage for a base for a holiday and the communication from Jane was also very good. We will definitely be back in the future!

Stayed for a short break in this cottage.
You couldn't wish for a better position. The cottage provides everything you need and Beer is a beautiful little village. We took our little Cockapoo "Stella" and she seemed to love it as much as us.
At the rear is a stunning garden/patio area which is shared by all the guests staying at the 3 cottages.
Everyone was friendly and good conversation was had on an evening with a bottle of wine or two.
We would have no hesitation at all in booking this accommodation again should we wish to stay in Beer.

Very nice little cottage, had lots of nice little touches, e.g. sugar, salt, tea bags, cooking oil and a pint of milk all in the kitchen. Also plenty of clean towels. Overall a really good stay, the owners clearly know what they are doing!

“Lovely Cottage in an Ideal Location.”
Reviewed 11 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Beer is a great little place, with plenty of local facilities and the cottage was an ideal place to stay, to enjoy all that the area had to offer. The cottage was warm, clean, tidy and contained all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay.
We were also able to take our dog to this cottage, which has the advantage of the small grassed garden area, for late night and early morning toilet trips.
Owners were very responsive regarding communication and we had the pleasure of meeting them briefly during our stay.
We will definitely plan a return trip in the future.

“Home in the heart of a beutiful village”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Cosy home in the heart of Beer which is a beautiful village.
The home has a small but very functional ground floor and 3 large bedrooms upstairs.
It is located right on the main street across a good little delicatessen and next to several restaurants open for all meals from English breakfast to really good diners at the Dolphin hotel or at The Spice merchant indian restaurant The street is quiet at night and there is mostly foot traffic by the door. I could stand there occasionally, talk to the locals and pat a few dogs.
We enjoyed the cottage after settling in and finding out how to work the equipment.
There is good heating, which was required when we arrived on a cool rainy afternoon, but you have to look for the instructions to run it. WiFi is great as well as the TV. The beds are confortable , the bathroom is fine and there is plenty of hot water. We found the washer-Dryer complicated compared to North American machines. No Hair dryer or iron available. Parking in the village is available but not free. I chose to buy a 25 Pound weekly ticket which is good also in many other East Devon sites
Jane has been quite responsive on the Trip advisor mail and open to requests and suggestions.
Beer is a wonderful location to visit the Jurassic coast. We enjoyed great weather all week and day hikes to Seaton and Branscombe along the cliffs. The village has a lot of shops, hotels and restaurants. Just walking down the street , to the beach and harbour as well as on the cliff tops is a treat. Visiting the Beer Quarry is a must. Lyme Regis is within 20 min drive and there is a good bus system in the region.
We certainly plan to go again .

Thank you for your kind review. I am so pleased you had a comfortable stay in our cottage .you mention that there is no iron or hairdryer. We will be providing hair dryers in each of our cottages by next week and I am sorry one was not there during your stay. The iron and ironing board are stored upstairs in the larger of the two front bedrooms so sorry you could not locate them.
We would be delighted to welcome you should you wish to stay in the future.
Very best wishes
