Stayed for a short break in this cottage.
You couldn't wish for a better position. The cottage provides everything you need and Beer is a beautiful little village. We took our little Cockapoo "Stella" and she seemed to love it as much as us.
At the rear is a stunning garden/patio area which is shared by all the guests staying at the 3 cottages.
Everyone was friendly and good conversation was had on an evening with a bottle of wine or two.
We would have no hesitation at all in booking this accommodation again should we wish to stay in Beer.
Very nice little cottage, had lots of nice little touches, e.g. sugar, salt, tea bags, cooking oil and a pint of milk all in the kitchen. Also plenty of clean towels. Overall a really good stay, the owners clearly know what they are doing!
Beer is a great little place, with plenty of local facilities and the cottage was an ideal place to stay, to enjoy all that the area had to offer. The cottage was warm, clean, tidy and contained all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay.
We were also able to take our dog to this cottage, which has the advantage of the small grassed garden area, for late night and early morning toilet trips.
Owners were very responsive regarding communication and we had the pleasure of meeting them briefly during our stay.
We will definitely plan a return trip in the future.
Cosy home in the heart of Beer which is a beautiful village.
The home has a small but very functional ground floor and 3 large bedrooms upstairs.
It is located right on the main street across a good little delicatessen and next to several restaurants open for all meals from English breakfast to really good diners at the Dolphin hotel or at The Spice merchant indian restaurant The street is quiet at night and there is mostly foot traffic by the door. I could stand there occasionally, talk to the locals and pat a few dogs.
We enjoyed the cottage after settling in and finding out how to work the equipment.
There is good heating, which was required when we arrived on a cool rainy afternoon, but you have to look for the instructions to run it. WiFi is great as well as the TV. The beds are confortable , the bathroom is fine and there is plenty of hot water. We found the washer-Dryer complicated compared to North American machines. No Hair dryer or iron available. Parking in the village is available but not free. I chose to buy a 25 Pound weekly ticket which is good also in many other East Devon sites
Jane has been quite responsive on the Trip advisor mail and open to requests and suggestions.
Beer is a wonderful location to visit the Jurassic coast. We enjoyed great weather all week and day hikes to Seaton and Branscombe along the cliffs. The village has a lot of shops, hotels and restaurants. Just walking down the street , to the beach and harbour as well as on the cliff tops is a treat. Visiting the Beer Quarry is a must. Lyme Regis is within 20 min drive and there is a good bus system in the region.
We certainly plan to go again .
Beer is a real gem tucked away between Sidmouth & Seaton & staying at Gravel Cottage was a real pleasure helped with some glorious weather . The cottage was clean & tidy on arrival , the downstairs / kitchen area is on the small side but the bedrooms upstairs were more than adequate . Being in the centre of the village is great with everything you need only a short walk away .
If was thinking of returning I'd definitely book Gravel Cottage again
