Whilst undoubtedly a stunning location that is where it ends! The biggest issue is parking, on arrival we were unable to park in the Hotel's car park and there literally isn't anywhere else to park - a porter was sent to remedy this but on disappearing through the door we never saw him again! We had booked a superior double room but had to check with reception that this is what we had got as apart from it being spacious there was nothing 'superior' about it. We had an issue in the restaurant on the first night with one of our main courses which was not remedied so we chose not to eat there for the remainder of our stay (5 nights). It is also overpriced for what you get. The new accommodation being built on the beach is an eyesore which on completion is not going to change, it will never blend in with the environment and has spoilt views from the hotel. We feel the money invested in this would have been better spent improving the existing hotel i.e. air conditioning in the bedrooms, replacing chipped and cracked tiles in the bathroom, refurbing the tired pool area. The windows in the conservatory and beach cafe were filthy and we didn't see any attempt at cleaning these during our stay. Clearly the emphasis at this Hotel is to make as much money as possible i.e wedding functions at the detriment of ordinary paying guests. Personally we can't think who in their right mind would want to pay thousands of pounds to stay in beach accommodation in a country where the weather is not guaranteed when you can get a better deal abroad with more or less guaranteed sunshine. The parking issues spoilt our stay as we had plans to visit places but with the bad experience on arrival we were afraid to move our car for fear of not being able to park it again - we can only see this getting worse with the new beach build and wedding functions etc., hence we would not stay there again. Regardless of all of the above most of the staff were friendly and tried to help. Please Mr Baker, do not reply to say that things will improve when the building work is complete as you have done so to many other guest reviews - it is wearing a bit thin now and bears no credence!!

Further to your review, we are a very popular venue due to our lovely location. We have plenty of different parking areas either at the hotel or in the near vicinity and can always assist. We are sorry you felt unable to dine with us further and would be more than happy to discuss this with you as we generally receive excellent feedback on our food and menus. Our new accommodation and facilities on our beach have been designed to blend with the surroundings which should soon become more apparent and they offer the most spectacular direct coastal views straight out to sea. Thank you for complimenting our helpful staff. We hope you might return at a future date to see and enjoy our new Project.
Best regards

Don't be fooled.
Carbis bay hotel may offer a good deal on paper. However this is what you buying into
Certain Rooms that do not have a vista or they are over the spa ventilation systems. Noisy all night. Our room had a massive damp patch and lacked towel hooks along with having very small wardrobe space.
They inflate the prices on the menus to make you feel you are getting a deal however there are additional supplements on some of the dishes. All Dining is very disorganised also it is like dinning in a cafe. No table cloths, extra.
I spent time at this hotel some years back and it was five star treatment and now it's just tying to survive. The spa is very small having a pool and terracing that needs a massive refurb.
The Staff, I am sure are Three star hotel trained. However the reception staff are very helpful and in fact the best asset of the hotel; on the other hand the chambermaids are useless; this department needs more attention to detail.
The most disappointing issue is they have built on the beach to try and improve the hotel resort however they have gone one level too high so your view from the terrace or dinning room as gone.
This company has done the best they can to mess this iconic hotel up and really reduce it to a three star although I believe they will gain more business from the new build and may completely rebuild the hotel to gain a more flow with the new phase.
Positive: the beach is unbelievable and once the hotel is behind you, then you can enjoy the original vista.
The train still runs into St Ives from the back of the hotel and it's just a £.1.00 per Trip.

Room Tip: Not one that is over the Spa

We refer to your review and would be happy to discuss this with you. Your experience and comments are not at all typical of our guests' stays. We have a wide range of accommodation and are always happy to discuss alternatives; our menus are generally well received; our stunning views remain. Our new accommodation and facilities are an exciting addition to our Estate and will be for the enjoyment of all our guests, with new lodges opening in July. We hope you might return to see these at a future date and that we can restore your faith.
Best regards

We visited in mid June and were immediately taken back by the amazing location of the hotel. The staff were superb in every department; Reception, Bar, Restaurant & Breakfast all of them were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Lesley arranged an upgrade of room upon our arrival which was a real bonus. Hotel was busy as you might expect but even with two weddings being held, the level of service was first rate. Rooms were well laid out and very clean - only constructive criticism is that a full length mirror would have been a welcome addition. We stayed on a DBB basis which isn't something we normally do but we weren't disappointed at all - the food was great.
Really perfectly placed for St. Ives which is a 20 min walk away or a 5 min train ride.
Looking forward to going back and seeing Lesley and the rest of the team again.

Room Tip: Sea View with balcony is the room you want.

My wife and I have just spent two nights at the lovely hotel. It's located just outside St Ives right on the beautiful beach of Carbis bay. The staff are excellent giving great service and the sands restaurant serves up great food.
The hotel is a short walk on the coastal path to St Ives and a 3 min train ride back as the coastal path return can be a little tiring. The room was very good but up 4 flights of stairs, no lift.
