We had a great experience getting to Balos. People said it would be difficult to drive a rental car there and many were fear mongering about all sorts of obstacles. We took a rental car and drove very carefully and slowly. The drive was fine. The road is wide enough to where it is not scary and if you go slow, it’s no problem. The hike was fine as well. It was so beautiful. You just have to experience it for yourself. I’m so glad we drove instead of taking the boat. Glad I listened to those giving the real advice on here.

Even doable with 3 and 4 year old kids. Not easy though. Definitely worth the effort. I would recommend this over elefonissi any day. Difficult drive out there.

We spend fantastic day in a Balos-blue water, amazing view from up, white and pink sands. I felt really like somewhere in Maldivas. We recommend boat trip, we enjoyed it and think it was worth it. If you want to go there by car- please think twice, especially if you have kids-walking down there from up cliff is really hard and hot, hot, hot.
There are sunbeds, I saw one wc, but definitely take water, drinks, something to eat with you.
Perfect day for couples, not sure about family with kids.

The Beach looks nice from up top of the trail going down to it. If you go by car; go early because it can get very busy here. Around 11-12 the tour operator boats arrive which means that the place looses its virginity completely.

The view from the top of the lagoon is breathtaking. The walk from parking to beach takes about 20 minutes, but the view is worth everything. Water is crystal clear, the sand in some places is pink. In some places I recommend the water shoes. We used rented car, but there is also the possibility to get there by a boat.
