A second visit to Martyn and Sue's wonderful Guest Lodge was just as good as the first. You will not be disappointed either with the food, the wine, the accommodation, the friendly relaxed atmosphere or the location, virtually next door to one of the worlds great wild life natural parks, the Kruger. Our hosts knowledge and understanding of the local area and wild life, as well as knowing the best tourist places is South Africa was an additional bonus.

Room Tip: Rooms are great and are geared to a mix of travelers.

Although we only stayed at Trees Too for one night it was absolutely perfect! We only booked the place on the same day but everything was prepared and we enjoyed a super dinner upon arrival. The hosts are super friendly and helpful with advice on what to see, the routes to take in Krueger Park and all other information that you would need. It definitely helped enure our safari part of our African trip went well. You could also easily use Tree Lodge as your base while driving into the park as its only a short distance away. Highly recommended!

We stopped at Trees Too first, on our way south to Durban area and we enjoyed the first stay so much we booked again as we passed on our way back north.
The location is close to Kurger Crocodile entrance, Mozambique and Swaziland borders. The owners are very friendly and have lived in the area for many years and have great tips and directions for travel and sightseeing to maximize your time in these areas. Special attention was paid to each guest to personalize the service. We found Trees Too to be a very comfortable, private and relaxing location.

Meals can be booked and we also ordered a take away breakfast for a long day in the Kruger. The on-site meals are fresh, plentiful, nicely prepared with many interesting choices (warthog carpaccio was delicious and an unexpected option on the menu).

If we find ourselves in this area of South Africa again we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Internet connection can be intermittent and best signal is found in the parking area or by the offic...

...not very clean rooms with a strong smell of cats/dogs all around the place. Would only recommend if you are really into nature - indoors and outdoors.
Staff very helpful though.- helped with tips on how to best explore Kruger.

Thanks for taking the time to review us. We're delighted you found our hints and tips for the Kruger to be useful...we do have a passion for nature and like to share that with our guests...resulting in our very high satisfaction rating thankfully! You are right that we are a great base for a wildlife holiday, being only 8 Km from the Kruger Park.

Our domestic pets are not allowed in the rooms at all and our rooms are thoroughly cleaned by our small team. I have separately asked you for specific examples of what you felt was not clean as we are very sorry you didn't feel that you could raise your concerns during your stay as we would have addressed them at that time, and if possible, learned from the experience. We still welcome that feedback. It is always disappointing to hear of guest concerns for the first time via the WWW of course! We hope you had a lovely holiday in SA.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A small, family owned and run lodge, just 8 km from the game abundant Crocodile Bridge Gate into the Kruger Park, 65 km from the Swaziland border and 5 km from the Mozambique border, making all easily accessible for day trips. Game drives, elephant and horse back safaris, golf, fishing, microlight flights and quad biking are all available locally (pre book to avoid disappointment. We have 8 rooms, some smaller for 1/2 people and a couple of larger family rooms for up to 6 sharing (for the budget conscious). All rooms have WiFi, TVs, air con, bar fridge and en suite bathrooms. They are mainly set under thatch, around a pool in tropical gardens. Breakfast and dinner are available in our small licensed bar and restaurant from a lovely, varied menu of traditional South African and European cuisine. Because we have a lovely restaurant we have NO self catering facilities. Komatipoort is a small, quiet "real" African town with a couple of restaurants and a small shopping centre. We do have some domestic pets on site...Two dogs and some cats...They are all very friendly and not at all dangerous! We can offer lots of advice for onward travel in SA, Swaziland and Mozambique! ... more   less
