“Ideal village retreat for visiting nearby Stratford upon Avon”
Reviewed 25 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We spent an excellent week at Apple Loft. Plenty of easy parking at the house, a village shop five minutes walk away for a newspaper, fresh local produce, etc, and a pub/restaurant within three minutes if required. The house stands well back from the road (which is not busy in any case) and is very quiet at all times. The property is ideally-sized for a couple and is well equipped - everything we needed was provided. A handy feature was the utility room with modern washing machine and a clothes dryer, which we found useful. Stratford is 10-15 minutes away by car, or you can take the train from the village station for around £2 return (saves searching for parking in the busy town)! There are many more tourist attractions within easy reach. A feature we appreciated was the very large, typically English country garden with lots of chairs scattered around - ideal for lazy reading during the day, or for an outdoor drink and chat in the evening before dinner! Owners Margaret and Ted live close by but out of sight and were excellent hosts - readily available if needed, but not obtrusive. A highly recommended property!

“Quiet and pretty”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Comfortable, warm cottage and picturesque surroundings. A warm welcome with a starter pack of bread, individual spreads and jams plus cereals, orange, tea and coffee.
Margaret and Ted were very helpful but not overbearing. Easy parking and quieter than accommodation in Stratford.
Close to 2 pubs and Mary Arden's house and farm and a few minutes drive to Stratford.
Train station is 5 minutes walk away. It takes 5 mins to get to Stratford upon Avon so we decided to use it so that we could both drink and have a meal. Trains were 1 an hour.

Wifi is intermittent but hey it's nice to get away from 24hr technology. If i went again I would take my own pillow but that just maybe me because of my neck.

“Apple Loft”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Had a short 4 night stay in March. An easy commute each day to Warwick. The Loft was warm and clean. Bed comfy. A quiet spot. Our hosts had left a lovely welcome pack of tea, milk, biscuits and cereals which lasted us 2 days. A local shop is just down the road too.

“Cosy, perfectly situated and very warm welcome.”
Reviewed 26 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

The Apple Loft is ideally situated close enough to Stratford to either have a pleasant walk along the canal into town, or hop on the train from a station two minutes away. Margaret and Ted were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was very well equipped, warm and well maintained although the furniture was a little dated. Little touches like providing a torch to see us down the path and the breakfast bits and pieces were very much appreciated. The food in the Mary Arden pub just across the road was exceptional and the Masons Arms provided a friendly welcome (although we didn't have chance to eat there). If we come back to Stratford, we'd book again.

“Superb accommodation and real value for money.”
Reviewed 5 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Apple Loft is a first floor conversion attached to the hosts' home. Being on the first floor it is not suitable for the disabled but there is another cottage beneath, 'Acanthus', which is solely on the ground floor. The hosts Margaret and Ted provided a very warm welcome and a feeling that 'if there is anything at all that you need you only have to ask.' At the same time there was never any indication of interference. The cottage was very cosy, the furniture was very comfortable and practical although dated but this fitted in with the whole genre. The bathing facilities were cramped but adequate. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with modern appliances, freezer, fridge, cooker, microwave etc. The hosts advertise that they leave a starter breakfast for the first morning. In fact this is an understatement with bread, marmalade' cereal and milk almost sufficient for a four day stay. The grounds are expansive and it is clear that guests are free to use them. The cottage is set in a rural and very quiet area but handily placed for the 'Shakespeare experience' in and around Stratford. The hosts are to be proud of what they provide and also the fact that they were awarded four stars, well deserved, as recently as August 2014.
All in all we had a marvellous five days and will certainly return. We would be happy to recommend these cottages to all.
