Owner description: With spectacular views over Derbyshire, the fairy-tale Stuart mansion, Bolsover Castle, was designed to entertain and impress. Its reputation for revelry lives on as we now entertain you and your family. Wander the lavish rooms of the Little Castle, explore the romantic ruined terrace range, and delight in the views from the wall walk. Start your visit in the exhibition in the Riding House then run wild in extensive grounds (and fun play area).

Stunning views and a stunning site. We visited on a clear day in summer and the whole place was rather magical. The ridding school was a surprise worthy of the admission alone. Having said that I am a member of English heritage and would encourage anyone visiting to join. Without it places like this wouldn’t exist. It tells a great story and encourages visits to other local sites. Fabulous.

I used to take my children to Bolsover Castle when they were young and we had some great times there over the years. I decided to revisit with my husband who had never been before. We were not disappointed. There is now a new visitor centre, new toilet facilities, seating, picnic benches and a lovely castle themed play area for youngsters.

The castle was as splendid as ever and there seemed to be more exhibits than before.

The views over Derbyshire are truly breathtaking- probably the best I’ve ever seen.

The gardens were lovely and well maintained.

There is now a Wetherspoon pub next door which will be handy for future visits together with limited free council car park just opposite the entry.

It was lovely seeing so many families enjoying the castle.

We popped in here on the off chance on a sunny afternoon, the staff were so friendly and helpful. We managed to catch the Horse Dressage for £2 which was fantastic and lasted around 15 minutes.

The castle grounds were lovely to walk around and enjoyed looking in the little castle. There is also a wall walk around this building.
