This is a beautiful little spot. I really enjoyed the stop. There wasn't a lot in the museum, but it was interesting. The grounds had some very interesting signs etc. The beach, tho small is a pretty little beach. The lighthouse is nice.
There are nice picnic tables. We will be returning for a family picnic.
The one downside was that there are very few directional signs.

A hidden gem. Excellent documentation & display of early French settlement in Nova Scotia. Only wished I had more time to browse and read the displays. Beautiful location as well.

Some museums overwhelm with their collected artifacts and stories. Not so here - perfect for a "morsel" of history.

LaHave's history as a French capital in the New World is not well known. This little gem of a museum adds a lot of detail to the story of New France's early history. While time and erosion have essentially done away with the original fortifications, there is much here to see and experience. Well worth the brief excursion.

Our latest trip to Nova Scotia had a bit of a theme, while we didn't cover the entire south shoreline we did cover a lot of it, traveling along the Lighthouse Route we found many points of interest worthy of stopping. The Lahave Lighthouse is situated within the Fort Point Museum just before you exit the town traveling south on the Route.

Each Lighthouse stop is unique, this one has the remnants of an old military fort, hence the name.

Although the Museum was not open for our April visit we found the sight to be quite interesting and at the least offer a few good photo opps.

Seeing canons that date well beyond a century old is kind of interesting.

We enjoyed watching the local boat traffic for a while before heading back into town to visit the Lahave Bakery, which if you are stopping for the lighthouse you should make every effort to get to the Bakery, it's worth it!

Enjoy the pics...

The museum may be small but the beauty that surrounds it is every changing. Take a walk in the teepee look over the marsh or better still sit and have a picnic as you watch the sail and fishing boats go by , we did. Ancient history and maybe history being made . A small gem along the river. Events happen in the fields as well.
