It has been a long time since the Ponto Final restaurant ceased to be a secret hidden in front of the Tagus River. Installed at the end of the Ginjal quay, where for many decades the fishing vessels that had been there have stopped to operate, this small restaurant offers one of the best views of ancient Lisbon. And if we choose the end of the day to enjoy this view, even better. On hot summer days, watching the crepuscule sitting on the esplanade of Ponto Final is especially charming. With the advantage that the food is good. the traditional dishes of Portuguese cuisine are served here, and if the fish is recommended, the meat is not left behind. The service is pleasant and dispatched. The desserts are great and tempting! And the entrees, paid separately, underline themselves, are so delicious that we end up losing the desire to eat the dish we chose. But we eat it without sacrifice. We tried a mass of fish and a steamed veal. Both were very tasty. The average price easily walks between 30 and 40 euros per person, considering a meal with wine, some starters, plate, dessert and coffee. For the average values in Portugal is already an appreciable amount and reflects the recent inflation with the increasing invasion of foreign tourists. However, it is worth the money. And not just the landscape. The food is even good!

PS. If you want go there, be sure that you made a reservation... Try to go early, in the evening, and after crossing the river, climb the panoramic elevator that is just after the restaurant Ponto Final and enjoy the view from the top of the historical center of the city of Almada. Have an aperitif on the terrace right there at the top, and get off only when it's time for dinner ...

We decided to visit this restaurant after we received a recommendation. The location is near the 25 de Abril Bridge and it is very nice, but dangerous if you have a two years old child as there is no balustrade. We first went on a Tuesday, but we found out it is closed. To arrive at this restaurant you need to take the ferry from Cais do Sodre to Cacilhas (cost 1,20 one way). In the beginning, they served us bread and olives to start with which you’re charged for if you eat, but this is common practice in Lisbon restaurants. We had a pork steak with french fries and it was really delicious. The service was slow as they forget to bring me the beer, but the waitress was really friendly and hopeful.

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and were pleased to enjoy a memorable meal. The weather wasn’t on our side, so we took an aperitif by the water then chose to eat inside. Taking the ferry over with the commuters makes it feel nicely off the beaten track, and the walk alongside the waterfront to the restaurant, alongside derelict graffitied buildings was atmospheric. The veal steak was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, and I’m a committed carnivore usually ordering steak wherever I go! They do put down bread and nibbles to start with which you’re charged for if you eat, but this is common practice in Lisbon restaurants. You’re under no obligation to eat then, although try the olives - they were delicious! We had booked by phone but when we got there they had no record of it. They didn’t make us feel entirely welcome and we had to show our call history to prove that we’d called the right restaurant. After they admitted their mistake the service warmed up and the waiters were friendly.

Just a short ferry ride across the river from Cais do Sodré is this wonderful little restaurant. We had grilled sardines and sea bass with tomato rice, all cooked to perfection. A great place to eat and watch the water. We loved it.
