We've visited El Castillo four times over five years. There have been changes in staff over those years. We've done it with aged relatives, friends, millennial children, and just the two of us (active 50 somethings). We've done the rainy season once, and January - March the other times. Each and every time has been wonderful.
Ojochal and El Castillo give us a perfect combination of fun adventures, challenging hikes, great bird watching, delicious food, easy access to local beaches, and a lovely pool to lounge around.
The newish General Manager, Rebeca, and her right-hand person, Vanessa, are doing a superb job. They're also very charming and engaging with guests. True hospitality. The other staff, including Aesim, Marlin, and Brian are friendly, helpful, and great at their jobs.
The surroundings and facilities are modern, tasteful, well-maintained, and comfortable. But it's really the people that make this place shine, and their five year track record of consistency tells me this won't be changing anytime soon, thank heavens.More
