“Some issues”
Reviewed 8 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Lovely helpful owner. Clean stylish villas right on the beach in a small village about 10 minutes by tricycle from the whale shark center. Pool was always sparkeling clean and great for cooling off.
Food was great but a bit pricey at Php500 for dinner. Norma is a lovely host and does her best to please.
We found the rooms rather impractical. Huge massage room with a large sauna bath but toilet and shower so small you could hardly turn around.
No place to store clothes except on the massage bed.
The bathroom is off the main bedroom so anyone from the upstairs rooms have to walk through the main bedroom.
Upstairs rooms beds are matresses on the floor
We were surprised to find no air con in an otherwise developed place.
Despite all this we generally enjoyed our stay there and think it a good alternative to the resorts.

Management Response
14 Mar 2016
We would like to respond to the guest's comments
1) Our place is a private small resort and we would like to keep it that way for privacy and enjoyment of our guests and families who are looking for relaxation without having to deal with walk in walk out public guests
2) We provide meals with fresh seafoods and vegetables enough for the guests enjoyment. We do not consider P500 (or US$10.00 ) per person expensive. Honestly we do it at minimum profit considering the costs of seafood and ingredients are getting expensive especially after the typhoon.
3) The villa has a floor are of 40 m2 downstairs and the same upstairs. It is 4 to 5 times the size of a normal room in a typical hotel. We have plenty of cupboard storage space for clothes upstairs and nevertheless we find it odd for guests to bring the wardrobe on a 3 to 4 days holiday.
4) The place is for guests to relax hence we have massage room, jazuzzi. The toilet and shower are there to provide convenience for guests to wash and not to spread the wings.
5) Our place was built with the natural sea and mountain breeze ventilation and not the air conditioning that spews out CO2 into the environment. There are front entrance, balcony doors and rear doors that provide natural ventilation throughout the villa. We encourage guests not to depend on unnatural air conditioning. There are circulating fans that will provide added air movements for cooling if required.
Last comment:
It is nothing better than enjoying the natural sea breeze in a tropical country and having a cool drink or ice cold beer by the beach side.
We would like to thank our guests for choosing to stay with us

“Wonderful place to stay”

We had a wonderful stay in this villa located right on the beach about 10minutes by moto down from the whale shark tourist centre. We were very luck to have the whole villa to ourselves with private use of the pool. Norma and her team are brilliant cooks and the food was just fantastic. Highly recommended!

It could be a little hard to find so recommend having Norma (the host) arrange the transfer from Legazpi.

“Hidden Hideaway”

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Averilla y Arellano. The property is nestled on a quiet road next to the beach surrounded by palm and coconut trees and when we walked in, we were greeted by Norma and Albert at the door whom are both extremely warm and welcoming.

The private villas are two storey, detached from the main house and are clean, spacious and furnished. Each villa also houses a little individual garden for you to enjoy. The property itself provides easy access to the beach in which you are able to view a very picturesque sunset and the local village children frequently play in the area which provides an energetic vibe.

We stayed for four nights and every morning, we would wake up to an amazing breakfast of fresh fruit, bread and brewed coffee and were welcomed back with an amazing variety of home cooked meals ranging from stuffed squid to roast chicken. It was absolutely divine! Norma is an outstanding cook. Our transport and activities (scuba diving, whale shark interaction, firefly tour and waterfall hike) were organised by Albert who made our stay extremely easy. He was able to create a schedule that worked for us which really helped and offered recommendations on the local interests and activities.

The pair of them are the sweetest couple and have really created a home away from home.

“Wonderful Time in a quiet beautiful home!”

The villa is nestled in the village, only one of its kind outside Donsol. Averilla y areallno is a private villa, safe and secured with a feeling of a village living. The place is quiet and tranquil with a beautiful changing colour sunset each night.

Wonderful meals are prepared with freshly baked olive, corn and rye bread for breakfast. Every day we were able to enjoy a different excellent fresh fish meal and local fruits.

With a paddle boat we explored the surrounding bight and coral reef. If you are lucky whale sharks can be found in the sea just behind the villa. Guided snorkeling with the whale sharks can be organized easily. Other activities such as scuba diving in Manta Bowl and San Miguel is accessible by boat , also a short ride from Donsol.

Norma and Albert provide personal service to the guests and made us feel home all times!

“A beautiful hideaway in Donsol !”

We stayed @ averillayarellano in Feb and had a wonderful visit !
The house is in a great, very quiet residential neighborhood with easy access to the town by trike. The villas are very well presented, surrounding the pool and with easy access to the beach, just outside the back gate. We couldn't have asked for a better house or better hosts! Norma & Albert were so warm and welcoming. Long before we arrived Albert was in contact with me, helping to arrange all sorts of things including drivers and even PADI certification! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always available upon request and it's safe to say we never went hungry :)
I love Bicol and the Donsol area and now that I've found a new place to stay, I've got even more reasons to go back. I'm very much looking forward to staying @ averillayarellano again, hopefully sooner rather than later!
