Very central and helpful staff. Overpriced. Now I fi, but Internet shop opposite. Usual plumbing problems! Comfortable and quiet. Mosquito nets could be larger to stretch over bed, but this seems to be the usual problem everywhere. Shabby.

We stayed here as it was a recommendation in Lonely Planet and we did not want to waste time looking for a room.

On the first look the room was ok, room was on the second or third floor - 3 single beds, dirty mosquito nets, window facing indoor against another wall, quite dirty bathroom.

The first night was ok, just some cockroaches around.

The second night was an absolute nightmare though. In the middle of the night (2.30am) we woke up coughing because the room was filled with smoke.
Someone was burning trash down somewhere, and through the space between the walls in front of our window, the smoke came directly in our room, almost like it was a chimney.

We got up in a bit of panic, thinking the hotel was burning, but when we went outside we noticed, that it was the burning trash that caused the smoke.

We went to the reception and requested to change the room. The lady declined, saying that either we have to pay again for the new room, or we have to stay in the smoky room. Only once we got very angry and agressive, she allowed us to move to another room.

Obviously no apology or such thing the next day.

Without wanting to be dramatic, sleeping in a room filled with smoke from burning plastic can turn out quite dangerous if you don't happen to wake up from the smoke.
I would strongly suggest anyone to stay away from this place.

This was one of the worst places I have been in a long time. The rooms were dirty, hot water was not working and there was no attempt to fix it. Works with dubious tour guides. I'm wondering how they mangaged to get a recommendation in the LP.

We initially wanted to stay inside the National Park but a very delayed bus made us change our plan and stay in this hotel. It is probably one of the least nice places we stayed in East Africa but the town Nakuru seems to offer little decent choices at budget prices.
At Carnation there were cockroaches everywhere, cleanliness was not their main thing, neither was service (we were promised a breakfast before our safari but in the morning nobody seemed to remember...) We were glad we stayed only one night and would avoid to stay in this hotel again.
