“Beautiful Location”
Reviewed 28 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Quite out of the way but that's what we wanted. Luckily we didn't meet much traffic coming and going on the road to the cottage, as it is very narrow and steep in places! Once arrived and settled we were delighted to find ourselves in such a peaceful setting with a distant view of the sea from the garden. Mill cove was another highlight and just is a short walk away from the cottage. Perfect for skimming stones after dinner :)
Having said that, we were also a short drive away from lovely beaches, other places of interest and essential shopping amenities.
Being a cottage, the accommodation in the kitchen/living room was quite dark with sadly no view and the master bedroom with a view is narrower than it looks in the pictures. There was one problem when we arrived that we were able to resolve ourselves once we placed a call to the cleaner. The caretaker also kindly followed up that evening to make sure all was well.
I feel we got good value for the time of year we stayed and would certainly return to West Cork again. Thanks also for the complimentary family ticket to the Model Railway Village in Clonakilty, used on the 1 rainy day we had!

“Perfect location, beautiful house!”
Reviewed 16 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Our second time to stay at Crab cottage and both experiences were excellent. The cottage is in a beautiful location and with easy access to the local town and beaches, as well as the spectacular views surrounding the cottage itself. Will definitely be staying here again. Kate is really easy to deal with and very accommodating. The cottage is clean, has everything you need and is very cosy during the winter nights with it's wood burning stove. Would definitely recommend!

“Beware of previous reviews, this cottage is not excellent.”

I picked this cottage because of the glowing TripAdvisor reviews. When this cottage was first renovated, it probably was to a good standard, however the passing years and many visitors has meant it now is quite worn in parts. In addition the cottage wasn't clean, it smelt damp, had moldy grouting in the bathroom, and a greasy layer on kitchen surfaces and lights.
On the plus side, it is in a pretty rural setting with easy access to the beach and country walks.

Management Response
3 Nov 2015
I'm sorry the cottage did not live up to expectations. I feel your review is quite harsh. The kitchen work tops are sealed natural teak and so they do feel slightly different to standard work tops. The cottage is not fully booked at this time of year and is a stone built cottage over 200 years old. So despite the central heating coming on twice a day there is occasionally a problem with very small areas of discolouration in the otherwise modern shower cubicle, this is usually treated regularly by our cleaner and has now been rectified. We usually have compliments on the cleanliness of the cottage and make every effort to keep it to a high standard as other reviews have testified .
