The fact that this was our 5th and longest stay, 10 days, at Coqui's Hideaway says a lot about how nice it is, and what a bargain it is. The Coqui's Hideaway web site has pictures that accurately portray the comfortable, homelike, all-details-included accommodations, the private swimming pool, and the beautiful grounds. On this trip we especially enjoyed relaxing, taking pictures, and listening to the birds and coqui's from the large private veranda. We also spent time in the comfortable chairs in the shady poolside cabana. It is convenient that near the pool is a very nice "baño" with shower. We even packed a little lighter than usual because the washer and dryer are right there in the unit. Though we have come to Puerto Rico for a number of years now, for information on places to go, we still confer with owners Ray and Gwenn, THE FOREMOST authorities on vacation activities in Puerto Rico. We shall return.
We first stayed at Coquis' Hideaway a few years ago and fell in love with it. Ray and Gwen are the ultimate hosts; friendly and welcoming and they have an amazing wealth of knowledge of the area, things to do, and places to go. (see their companion website puretoricodaytrips.)
This year we stayed a few months after hurricane Maria and were amazed at how much they've put into the house. It's even more beautiful than before and they took the opportunity to make beautiful upgrades and improvements. The house has the quality and flair of a five star boutique hotel coupled with the coziness, warmth, and appeal found only in a home that was built with love.
The house has been enlarged so there is even more room than before (which was a lot of room!). It has new bathrooms, new appliances, and a new feel.
The pool is a welcomed amenity and the view is even better than before (unfortunately because Maria took down most of the trees). Now, right near the pool you'll find a full (and beautiful) bathroom, mini-fridge, and grill so you can spend quality fun time outside (and you should!).
The location is very near the rain forest, the airport, and San Juan. Beaches, restaurants, and a wide variety of shopping are all very close!
Is five stars even enough for the best vacation rental home? Not as far as we're concerned. I would certainly add a few if I could!
My only concern is that the more people who know about how wonderful CH is, the more will rent... and book... and make it harder for us to stay there in the future :-)
This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Ray & Gwen are amazing! They thought of absolutely everything. There is nothing lacking. The house was spotless, and has everything you can possibly need. They are extremely knowledgeable and can answer any questions you may have. They know the best places to go to. They are super organized. Before we arrived, they sent me an email detailing every single thing I needed to know. From the exact directions, to the places to stop and get groceries, to the best place to eat. I absolutely loved that even though we were traveling to a place we had never been, I felt comfortable. This is truly an amazing place to stay. And the perfect location. It has everything for everyone. If you are the young and adventurous type, this place is for you. But if you are older, like we were it is also perfect for you. I went with my parents, who are in their late 60's and another couple who were in their late 70's. And they loved it too. If you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed.
This is my 2nd time staying at Coqui's Hideaway. If you want to stay at an excellent home do not look any further.. Coqui's Hideaway is the place to stay. It's home away from home plus more! The view, the land, pool and the home itself are amazing! Ray and Gwen do a wonderful job upkeeping the property. Central location to all( San Juan, beach , El Yunque, etc). My family and I enjoyed our stay! Oh and I should mention the sounds of the coqui and other animals from the Rainforest at night is music to my ears!! I miss it already. Don't forget to go to Puerto Rico day trips website for things to do in PR- Ray and Gwenn do a wonderful job giving out loads of info!
Our family spent several days at Coqui's Hideaway in June, 2017 and it was nothing short of perfection. From the beautiful floral arrangement, fresh fruit and pina colada basket that greeted us on our first day, to the absolutely stunning views, to the mystical and hypnotic sounds of the rainforest at night. The Hideaway was EXTREMELY clean and very well organized. Every detail was carefully planned out. It is apparent that Ray and his wife are dedicated to ensuring their guests have the most enjoyable experience during their stay. We enjoyed many local sites/activities (La Mina Falls, El Yunque forest hiking, Luquillo Kiosks, Bio Bay, Jet Skiing, etc.), but we always looked forward to returning to Coqui's Hideaway to spend the rest of our day living in paradise. We will not soon forget the beautiful sound of the coqui frog; the breath taking views from the pool and balcony; and the soothing atmosphere of this property. Thanks Ray for your hospitality! You made us feel at home even though we live over 2,000 miles away!
