It's hard to be critical of the Holiday Inn Express given the price; however the pictures on line are very deceiving and the location is well off the beaten path. If you absolutely need a place to stay in Grand Cayman and or don't have the budget for other accommodations this is just the place.

We knew when we booked this hotel that it was a little out of the way but we enjoy our quiet time so this was perfect. Do your research - if you want to be on the sandy beach or close to the hustle and bustle of town, this isn’t your place. We booked early for a great rate and knew what to expect; having a rental car is a must for us since we do so much shore diving so I can’t speak to the convenience of their shuttle. I loved that Divetech had an office on-site since I was using them for my diving adventures. There was quite a bit of construction going on but it wasn’t noisy and we enjoyed seeing the upgrades being accomplished on a daily basis. The only problem we had was the coffee in our room not being replenished regularly, and once or twice housekeeping seemed annoyed when we were still in our room when they came around. I consider these first-world problems, though. I was pleased with our stay!

Hotel is clean, beds are comfortable and staff is friendly. It is located on the West Bay and there is no sandy beach that you can go into the ocean as it is rocks. If you have young children I would go to the 7 mile beach side. I rented a car so was able to drive over to that 7 mile Beach area and use the public beach access, but that is not as convenient if you have young kids. I was there with teenage boys so it was not a hassle as we were diving many days and only had to do this a few times. If we were not in Grand Cayman for diving, I would be bored using the hotel pool and the sand they have by the dock every day.

The staff is very helpful and the hotel rooms are nice, large, and have a well equipped kitchen. However, this is NOT on the 7 mile beach area of Georgetown. It is on a side with a rocky “beach” that you cannot swim from. You will need to take a hotel shuttle, taxi, or rental car to the beach and any other locations. You must reserve the shuttle a day in advance during busy times. Or you can rent a car. As long as you understand the drawbacks, this is a good place to stay. Just remember you are off the beaten path and you will not be swimming in the ocean behind this hotel. Pictures of “beach” behind hotel are attached to the review.

Thank you for sharing a few words with your follow travelers! We are happy to hear you have enjoyed our spacious, equipped accommodations and helpful staff. We are the only resort situated on the North Sound Caribbean Sea, and we aim to be very transparent on our website about our location. I’m glad this miscommunication didn’t negatively affect your enjoyment of the Holiday Inn Resort, and we hope to see you again for another stay soon!
