This hotel is out of the way end of a golf course mini bus stops running at 6pm so not good if you want a night out. This hotel is aimed at business people . No menus for restaurant in room . Ice bucket but never found ice machine. No plates or cutlery in room for self catering . The bed was extremely comfortable . No opening or closing time for resturaunt was given I had to ask . On site shop extremely high priced best go to supermarket . Next visit I will stay on Severn mile beach it will cost a bit more but I will save on taxis as I will be able to walk to different restaurants in the evening . Awful smell coming from the beach area on arrival the guys were still trying to clean up after a week so not a pretty site or aroma

Room tip: Menus should be in room with opening and closing time

Well.....read my past reviews. Every year I come back hoping that the deficiencies get attended to....but....it is the Caribbean you know..so do, some don't

The rooms are clean and well attended to. I get a suite so I have a full kitchen, LR and BR. The room is very clean and comfortable. The appliances are starting to get dated but they all work. Quiet and no interruption to sleep

The grounds USED to be pretty, but it looks like a major renovation to the area is taking place, so it looked bombed out while I was there. I understand all new land scaping is coming, but if it is anything on "Island Time" it'll be two years to complete...the view isn't very pretty right now. The pool area is clean and they finally got some umbrellas. The pool bar is closed due to the construction

The beach (not a real beach, just hard packed sand for sunning- typical in Caribbean; not all beaches are pristine white sand) is starting to look "beaten up"...I hope they add some topping when they do the landscaping

The on-site jet ski/boat rental people have left, so this amenity is now gone

A number of the guests do use the fitness room and it is still deplorable...the same broken elliptical, a recumbent bike with a broken control panel and a working tread mill. They will give you a pass to a gym, but it is miles away and really inconvenient. A few $$$$ expended will go a long way.....particularly if you have a full day of diving scheduled and you want to cram in a work out

They did re-deck the dock, so it looks nice and they recently added new LED lighting to the numerous palm trees. Great view at night.....BUT THE EXPOSED CONDUIT AND WIRING HAS TO GO

The restaurant is still not loaded with patrons and I still worry about food turn over..didn't eat there this trip, but did drink at bar- well stocked and great bar tender

I have to say, the maintenance, cleaning and front desk staff ARE GREAT and will accommodate as needed

Keep in mind that this facility is on the other side located on North Sound. You'll need a car or use their shuttle to get to 7 MB or town...too far to walk

Ask for a pool side room...the old construction on the north west has been replaced by new construction (mega million high end marina/condo complex) so a room on that side overlooking the north ocean view will be a bright construction view....pool view gives you an ocean view as well and stunning sun rises as a bonus (including the night lighting of the palm trees)

The chickens are still there (LIKE THE REST OF THE CARIBBEAN so get over it)...there is an Island wide program to rid themselves of those large non-endangered iguanas.(the locals hate them..like rats)....so those are no longer an issue around the pool

Anyway.....still the good, bad and ugly....take your pick

It's clean...staff friendly and helpful..quiet....value priced...more than adequate for someone or family involved in a diving vacation or a full day of site seeing

Room tip: Pool view hotel side

Hello Doug W,

Thank you for leaving us your review and for making us again a part your visit here in Grand Cayman. We are grateful that you've chosen the Holiday Inn to host you.

As one of our loyal and returning guests, we wanted nothing more but go beyond the experience you are used to having with our hotel. Though it made me smile that we've never failed in making you feel our warm hospitality and keeping the room in best shape, I'm sorry that you felt this experience was still not among your bests. I regard your thoughts about the ongoing construction, the fitness room, beach area, and the restaurant. Yes, even though we are currently renovating, we take the extra step to make sure your experience will not be compromised. I'm sorry that this stay didn't go as perfectly as planned, Doug W.

Don't worry, I took the necessary steps to ensure our management gets to read your post and be discussed amongst all concerned staff. We are always on the lookout for ways to make your experience memorable. Reviews such as this goes a long way in identifying areas where we can improve.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay with us. As soon as the hotel is 100% finished, I will be looking forward to your next visit and I'm positive to make it better.

Best regards,

Frank A.

My first time to visit the Caymen Islands . What a great trip. The weather was perfect. We stayed at the Holday Inn Resort and the service was friendly and the rooms were very nice as We had a full suite overlooking the ocean. The restaurant to my complete surprise was the best food that I had while in the Caymens . Service was prompt and friendly and every dish we tried was great.

If you are looking to stay somewhere you will be safe from staff or persons going into your room, after you leave the hotel, to take note of the room and what you have in your bags as well as pictures to show others, then Holiday Inn/Grand Caymanian is not the place for you. This is from experience and the management, when given proof, did not do anything to investigate who the staff member(s) were in order to ensure that they are no longer working at the establishment, as this should not be the type of person that you would want working at your resort. Nor the reputation you would want to earn from future guest from around the world. I have stayed at many hotels/condos on the Cayman Islands over many years and have NEVER experienced something this disgusting and illegal!!!!! and will NEVER recommend ANYONE to stay at this hotel again!!! which I have done over the years without knowing that THIS are the kind of managers that they have running the hotel and that I would EVER experience something so intrusive. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SAFE AND BETTER HOTELS AND CONDOS in the Cayman Islands!!!!

We categorically deny this baseless claim. This did not occur at our hotel, it is a false accusation and slanderous attempt, all because you presented us with a declined credit card. We take tremendous steps to treat all guests fairly and will not allow such baseless claims to go without response.

The location is not by 7 mile beach. You cannot walk, well you can it will just take a while. The hotel is clean, the room was nice. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was updated and clean. I have a frig, microwave and coffee maker. Life is good. The pool area is being upgraded construction work everywhere. No landscaping at all. So pretty view by the pool is a no. The same for the little beach, just raw dirt.

There is suppose to be shuttle. I won’t get to try it as I’m just here for the night then on to the east end.
