It’s been a while since I have flown an airline that was not Alaska. Things I didn’t appreciate about Hawaiian, no WiFi available, therefore you had to pay to watch anything and when you have kids flying on a long aircraft that was frustrating. Bring headphones because if you don’t they charge for them. Alaska Air has WiFi and provides you headphones if you forgot yours or they are I. Your checked bag. The staff was not overly friendly but not rude. The bathroom faucets were broken on the flight home this was irritating not to be able to wash your hands and there was no sanitizer in the bathrooms for the interim. The snacks are nothing great and not worth the purchase bring your own I usually do this anyways but Alaska Air has some great options at a good price in comparison to Hawaiian.

Things I liked, the overall cost of the flights are less and it was a direct flight. The cleanliness of the aircraft and the seats have the ability to charge your phones and laptops. I would fly Hawaiian again I would just be better prepared for what to expect or not expect.

It was a great flight with the upgrade although the flight attendant was not friendly. I learned that some people don't know that you can sometimes upgrade for a lot less than usual first class, or business class if you check in the night before a flight. You never know when it will be offered, but always a great surprise when it pops up.

Flight was from Sydney (business) to Honolulu, and then to San Jose CA (First).
The first (longer) part was on newer Airbus A330 with flat seats for the night time. Not the best comfort, but acceptable. Food was average, service was very nice with an excellent attitude. Honolulu airport is the worst I've been in the last 10 years, totally disorganized with poor signage. Avoid if need to transfer in Honolulu, or make sure you have 2++hours as your flight may continue on the same airline, but from different terminal. The 2nd part was on aging Boeing 767 with limited recline seats in First. Food was average, but service was good. At the end of the flight, the attendant walked to every seat and personally thanked every pair of passengers. That was first for me and I believe she did it on her own initiative, in addition to management mandated intercom "thank you". Nice touch to finish 18+ hours travel.

Wonderful pilots with such smooth take-offs and landings for every flight with Hawaiian airlines. Best experienced. Great food and service made each flight feel safe and very comfortable. Mahalo!

My husband and I were beyond excited to travel with Hawaiian Airlines! It was a fast smooth flight and very friendly service! We do however wish we would’ve just flown Mokulele only because 1. Affordable and 2. you don’t have to deal with TSA and in Maui that’s a biggie (we spent 2 hrs in line!) Yes it was great but again will most likely not travel Hawaiian air again.
