“Smooth flight with decent service”
Review of British Airways

Reviewed 2 April 2018

This flight is at a convenient time for travel from London to Verona (and further on to Lake Garda for us). The flight itself went very smoothly. They no longer give free food or drink any more on BA, but the options from M&S are quite nice, and the service is friendly and efficient. The seats are a little cramped, but it does depend on which plane you are on (our flight back had much better seating). This flight was pretty busy, but the service went well and the flight was on time.

The terminal at Fiumicino is very modern, reasonable amount of seating and cafes, with the usual high end shops. Flight back from Rome to Gatwick was delayed, partly due to late arrival of the plane in Rome. Then more delays due to snow/ice problems at Gatwick. This was reasonable and understandable. It would have helped if we had been given more information about the likely delay. On the flight a very late arriving passenger with two unreasonably large bags caused a bit of an overhead locker crisis but the cabin crew sorted this out very well. Food and drink has to be purchased when the trolley come round, it was reasonable, you can pay only by card. No problems with our two cases that went in the hold. We would use them again in preference to some other airlines. Generally one regrets their move slightly downmarket!

Standard BA flight on tired aircraft with seemingly tired crew and the now substandard treatment on board and during boarding. The pilot was fresh and enthusiastic so that was a plus.
BA dropped the complimentary drink a while ago in Economy and relish in making you know about it when on board - just stay away from their refreshments as they are cripplingly expensive, even for a cup of tea...
Boarding is now a new game - with 5 grades (yours will be printed on your boarding card) - they board in order, 1 to 5 rather than queuing and getting on as you can. I can understand their desire to seat the BA card holders first - they are flying enough to warrant a first on policy. What I cannot understand is how I always get listed as Grade 5 and am last to be allowed onto the plane... I travel for work, check in right on the 24hr point before the flight and only have cabin baggage but I am almost last on and have to fight to find somewhere to stow my cabin bag!

I have flown this route many times. BA have made changes to the bedding so there is a topper to lie on and a day blanket as well as a duvet which is a good improvement. They also now require passengers to order breakfast upon take off for a 12 hour flight. Did not improve service and would be better just to ask if wanted to be woken or not and whether cooked or not cooked breakfast.

My husband and i are frequent international travelers and have flown and experienced various airlines. Just couldn't help but have to mention this review about British Airways as it was a really bad service for a long haul international flight from Houston to Paris with a Layover at London. The in flight service is horrible, the flight attendants have big nosed lazy attitudes which they need to tune down, or else find themselves some executive jobs! On the flight my husband asked for orange juice while being served drinks she said 'i am out of it' (as she was lazy to go get it ) so my husband just took whatever she had and just a few minutes later she then goes and gets 3 boxes of orange juice as some one else must have asked for it too!! When they serve snacks they are so stingy about it as if the money is going from their own pockets and the customer is flying for free. I was offered the snack basket with 3 choices i picked up 2 small snacks for myself, SO she didn't offer anything to my husband sitting right next to me!! The height of cheapness the flight attendants can show, reflects the entire airlines overall service. If we can afford to fly, we can surely afford a small snack of few cents!! The flight attendants attitudes just showed 'why the heck am i here' just get done with her job and finish off with her flight shift as soon as possible!!
