“Going smooth, heading back not so much”
Review of American Airlines

Reviewed 19 November 2018 via mobile

I took a quick weekend getaway to NYC. The flight from Austin to JFK was wonderful. It was smooth transition onto the plane and on the plane I had a wonderful flight attendant who did a great job. She was engaging and funny too. The return flight from JFK to Austin was different as within 20 minutes of boarding we had to change gates from gate 39 to gate 1. Then we had a late departure of at least 40 minutes. After that the flight went well so overall it was very good still

I do not understand why airlines nickel and dime you for every little thing. Pay to sit in the emergency door. Pay to pick your seat. Pay for this, and pay for that. I feel like the customer service has gone down on flying, the space has decreased and on this airline, on this instance, the attendants were just bored and "over it". The atmosphere is lighter on SW. They know they are cramming you in, but they do it with a smile and an extra bag of snacks!

Basic Economy tickets are a total scam. Be prepared for American Airlines to rake you over the coals for making the mistake of purchasing these tickets. Yes, they have disclaimers about what you cannot do with these tickets, but those disclaimer go nowhere near explaining the full extent to how useless these tickets are. If you buy these tickets, hope that everything unfolds perfectly. If you are delayed at all, or otherwise encumbered beyond your control, it will not matter. You will have to buy a completely new ticket. American Airlines will not help in the slightest, and you will be completely screwed by them. I recommend you never fly American Airlines, but if you do, please don't make the mistake of buying these tickets.

My company booked my flight on American Airlines for business trip. I usually don’t fly this airline because of all the bad reviews. I had a connecting flight from Orlando to Charlotte before my final flight home to Bradley.

Upon arriving to the gate all of the TV screens seemed to be normal and everyone was lining up to board. As our initial departure time approached the gate attendant informed the passengers that our plane was still at the hanger and would be arriving shortly but, before we could board it still had to be cleaned. She offered no explanation for the delay, the weather was fine, and no other AA flight into Charlotte were delayed so the plane was just late due to American Airlines own incompetence.

As we continued to wait the gate attendant kept saying 10-15 minutes but it has been well over an hour now. The sign above the gate continue to read “Flight Closed- Boarding Complete” so the rest of the airport wouldn’t know that we were delayed. The most frustrating part is that American Airlines.

There is absolutely no reason this flight should have been delayed. I would avoid American Airlines at all cost if possible.

Recent flight on American Airlines from Philadelphia airport to Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday afternoon. Gate C19. This gate location has only 15 seats (chairs) for ALL the people that flying on a 200 seat airplane. That is not all. The gate area only has enough room for approximately 100 standing people. Many were sitting on the floor. Some with their emotional support dogs. Many wheelchairs with disabled passengers. The overflow blocking the gate in the walking corridor.

Not only a safety concern, but inconsiderate of the welfare of the passengers. Why would both American Airlines & the airport administration find this acceptable.

There should be a regulatory organization that oversees this safety issue.

Have to give poor rating even before the flight boarded.
