Review of Allegiant Air

Reviewed 28 June 2018 via mobile

We use Allegiant frequently and have been pleased. Their rates are cheap but their service is very good. We have never had a problem.

Purchased our tickets back in Feb. or March for my wife, a very close child friend and myself. The flight was supposed to depart CVG at 12:30 PM and arrive at JAX at 2:15 PM on June 22nd leaving us with ample time to eat lunch, sight see and enjoy time with family. March 15th we received an email from Allegiant stating that the departure was moved back to 5:49 PM. We were not happy about this but since we had already purchased the tickets we figured that we still could eat dinner and enjoy time with family and maybe sight see a little. On June 22nd, the day of the flight, as we were leaving for the airport we received a text message telling us that the departure time was now moved back to 6:49 PM and as we arrived at the airport it was moved once again to 7:13 PM and once more to 7:25 PM. In short we departed at around 8:30 PM and arrived in JAX at approximately 10 PM after sitting on the tarmac for 15 to 20 minutes due to another plane being at our gate. Needless to say we did get to eat at an IHOB or IHOP, whichever you prefer but did not get to sight see or enjoy time with family until the next day. We lost an entire day due to Allegiant! Next time we are going to check out Frontier who have just added JAX from CVG as a destination.

After being held by one of the customer service at the counter for a bag we had to check we ended up losing a flight along with additional $100 of carry-on bags even though we had fly free bags it took us another 50 minutes to pick up our bag on he way back. NOT WORTH IT!

A smooth check-in and a smooth flight. Love the small Sanford airport. Flying Allegiant is more expensive if you have checked bags. But, it is still cheaper because of the low fare prices. Also be aware that you have to pay for your seat if you wish to sit together with someone.

The planes were both on time, departed on time, and arrived early. Typical for Allegiant Air, one pays for one's seat, and for carry on luggage. They did board active military and VETERANS with priority boarding. Seats do not recline, and the tray tables are about big enough for an iPad mini.
